I've never had a more condescending teacher. I stopped asking any and all questions. Which is a shame because the class would have been fun otherwise. She shows favoritism big time, and my whole pod felt as though she hated us. Actually that was the conscience with most of the students. 1 presentation that she graded easily, easy A if you show

Francine was honestly the best! Ignore the other comments for sure! I learned so so much in such a little time. She's such a great teacher! You have one paper, one presentation, a final, and then four quizzes. The actives she comes up with are the best. They seem kind of dumb or childish at first, but they honestly help with the learning!

Fran is a nice women and a good teacher. The tests and quizzes are multiple choice which is very helpful. If you pay attention in class and participate in the activities, there is really no need to practice a bunch outside of class. Overall great class!

Fran was a great teacher! She makes her grading criteria/ assignments VERY CLEAR from day one in her class. She's VERY light on homework. You will have to write three papers & go to a deaf event (It was actually very fun in interesting.) All her papers you turn into her are 16 point font and Comic Font.. I enjoyed her class and would take it again.

Ok, here is the deal with Fran, if you want an easy class, take her and you will pass. However, if you are even remotely interested in ASL, DO NOT take her. She literally teaches the wrong signs and teaches you things about the deaf community that if you were to do, are seen as disrespectful. She is also quite rude and shows favoritism.

Very nice and learned a lot. She just is not clear, not understanding with grades and testing. Tests are trick questions about things that are not discussed in class. No announced test dates and she does not give you a chance to make up tests. Show up each class. Tests are scantron and are not hard--just tricky.

This was my first class and one of the best so far. I took it as an 8-week summer class. It was basically a crash course and moved quickly but I enjoyed every second of it. I passed and took sign 2 the next year which I did really well in as well. Fran grades clearly and if you have any questions, she is more than happy to answer them. So much fun!

I am so glad that Fran was the prof I took for sign!!! I knew I was going to enjoy that class but she made me enjoy it that much more! I took it in the summer and it was in no way overwhelming, and I had two other classes. She is always willing to help with whatever and her tests are EASY. If you miss class a lot you will be lost.

I am taking Fran for her summer ASL class. I was a little nervous about taking this class over summer but Fran is amazing and made this class awesome. She loves what she does so you can tell she cares about how you do. The way she teaches makes it extremely easy to catch on with all the new signs. TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU NEED ASL!

One of my favorite teachers so far! I learned so much and she has inspired me to keep going and take ASL2. I highly recommend and guarantee you will leave that class with a better understanding of ASL. Quizzes/tests are easy as long as you practice your signs and do the reading she assigns you will be fine.

Amazing Teacher. Makes the subject interesting and she makes it fun. You do a little reading but the tests are True and False questions and memorizing a few signs. You also learn about the Deaf community. She is the BEST! Take Ms. Buker!!

Great teacher. Very easy class. You mostly learn vocab, not grammar, so if you are actually interested in being able to fluently sign after your first semester i suggest you take the other teacher at vc. She is very helpful, nice, and passionate. I came out of that class with a lot of knowledge about the deaf community and i now know many asl signs

if you want to take sign language this is the teacher to take it with because you don't really use the book. all you have to do is show up and practice your signs. You do a lot of group work also you will have quizzes and you will also have to learn to sign a song and present it to the class not that hard though and she lets you do it in a groups.
