Gary is EXCELLENT. Idk why some comments look insulting. He CARES for his students and DOES help his students' future. Btw, you cant expect he makes a quick response to your email b/c he has too many students seek help from him (papers, letters, etc). Very intelligent & decent professor with academic & ethical standards. DONT miss lectures or cheat!

Professor Gary is very lenient while grading. He is really on top of his lectures and he likes teaching federal reserve. He loves his students. Sometimes, he is late to upload study guides but as long as you attend his lectures. Youre good.

He is really talkative. I took his ECON100C is the summer and it is a heavy course. Both tests are not hard, all his free responses question come from the HW problem from the book. PLEASE DO YOUR HW!!!According to the class average, he will eventually curve your grade.

Class is a lot of work and requires reading from from "his website".Powerpoints are not organized, no syllabus with dates ,don't know when midterms are until less than one week ahead. Assigned a paper that doesn't make sense with two weeks before the final. Horrible study guide and the "reader not TA" grades you. Don't take him!

He's not a very good advisor. He doesn't respond to emails, is late or blows off meetings. He doesn't give much feedback. He is not a good professor. I would switch advisors. What a Disgrace to uci.

Worst professor I've ever had at UCI. Class does not follow the syllabus, has daily quizzes on readings that were not assigned... Completely inept and incoherent public speaker. Enjoys making unrelated startrek references and drawn out examples on simple concepts. Abuses Iclicker questions. If I had to describe him in a word, it would be obtuse.

Comment:
Possibly the worst professor in the entire history of the profession. His iClicker quizzes never have a straight answer, his written quizzes have nothing to do with the reading--and he dresses like a kid. He also confuses his dogs and wife as viable subjects for economics, though the class is hardly economics. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

first off, not really an econ course. it's a history course (Lenin, revolutions, etc.) so if your not into that this is a lot of reading and work. the curve and grading was insane. I believe I did well only b/c ppl did so poorly. iclikers in class. I did fulfill UDW w/ petition which subbed for my final. got an A but lots of hours spent...

Very cool dude and interesting class. IDK why everyone below me said he hates his students and makes the class really hard. I got an A in his class with very minimal studying. Hes def not an easy A, but at least he can somewhat teach and speaks clear English. You cant really say that about 80% of the professors in the econ department -_-

This professor is out for vindication. He seems to think all students are lazy and will cheat. Going to him during office hours doesn't help either. He just texted the entire time! Long story short, Richardson doesn't seem to care much about his students. Maybe some have forgotten, but part of the reason professors have a job is to TEACH students.

Ridiculously long midterms (100 questions for 80 min) less than a minute per question. material could be easier to learn if the professor didn't spend 30+ minutes ranting about cheaters at the beginning of lecture. wastes students time but requires them to iclick. DONT take this professor.

This class has a lot of busy work. iClicker quizzes in class and myeconlab homework and quizzes every week. Tests are pretty long...and it's just a ton of information to study. He's smart, but a tiring class.

Very very smart professor. His tests are sooooo hard I can barely pass them. He seems to hate all of his current students just because some people cheated in his other classes, which I think is unnecessary but understandable. The bottom line is that if you are not smart or your second language is not English, don't take it.

It's really unfortunate the UC system still has professors like this around that enjoy seeing students fail. In class, he spends half the class talking about irrelevant material when his exams are impossible. 161A is an interesting topic--DO NOT TAKE IT WITH GARY. Wait until another professor teaches it. You will learn more and enjoy the material.

Currently enrolled for 161a. His midterms are impossible. On the second midterm he gave us 100 MC questions and 5 short answer questions. Test was not that hard, but with the time that we are given it is almost impossible to finish (especially if English is your second langauge)

I have never left a comment for a professor, but this one is just that bad. Unreasonable, can't teach, class is mandatory (which is useless to go to), wastes a lot of time in class talking about things irrelevant to course material. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF

He could be pretty funny at times but not very clear at times in lecture. He also repeats things a lot, especially his analogies to Star Trek. Classwork is not that heavy-just a paper and final, which was pretty easy
