Dr. Sohn is very well knowledgeable in Economics and he explains everything with a sense of humor as well. He tries to remain updated to the way society works now and connects contemporary things with economic concepts, making it easy to understand. Would definitely recommend and take again. Just study and you'll do good.

Knew I would have to take this for the minor & that it would be challenging. There are only 3 exams (micro, macro, finance). Best way to study is to use the online materials he posts on Canvas, study end of chapter questions, & read the chapters & take notes. Has limited availability & no email so you must put in the work & attend class to do well

Took this class for my business minor and it was so hard. Your grade comes from three tests, and they were all very diffiucult. No amount of studying I did for them helped. You are on your own for this class and you NEED the book. Doesn't post the slides on canvas, and doesn't use technology. He lives in colonial times but he is a nice man.

Nice class if you don't want any homework considering 3 exams make up your grade, but the exams were difficult. He refuses to use university email or even upload the power point slides to canvas so you're on your own for studying. Wouldn't recommend

No matter how much you studied, attended class, read the textbook, the 3 exams were a challenge. EVERY question is "which of these is correct" with answer choices that had NOTHING to do with the others. Considering your grade only comes from 3 exams, it's impossible to do well. Be ready to study and read every day.

Econ is such a difficult class and he is soooo boring. It's really hard to pay attention. Attendance is not mandatory, he actually told us attendance is optional. The only way I know the material is because I read the whole chapter and teach myself so definitely buy the book. 3 tests, one final paper. BIG curve. The curve saved the whole class.

There are only three tests, non cumulative. The lectures are extremely boring and his voice is the most mono toned voice I've ever heard. Thank god attendance is not mandatory. If you decide just to show up for the exams, you must read the book on your own. He's a nice guy but just boring class.

The class is straight forward. 3 exams make up your final score. The economics portion is pretty straight forward. There are PPTs and Study Guides online. The finance section is more difficult but doable. He's also been fighting the bookstore to let us re sell our textbooks. I've never seen a professor go out of his way for students before!

He doesn't take attendance and your whole grade relies on 3 exams that are roughly 30 multiple choice. Extremely nice guy and funny. The tests are semi difficult but he curves it, just try your best and you should have no problem passing. Can't blame the teacher for the subject being boring. Would definitely recommend him. Low stress.

You only have three tests with about 30 MC questions the entire semester and no other assignments and he does not check for participation/attendance, so your grade relies on those three exams. Exams are curved and he says his exams come straight from the book, but they don't. You can find the exam questions online. Not too difficult if you study.

This class was my easiest class all semester, there are only 3 tests and one short paper. Attendance is not mandatory. The power points he gives in class are only the outlines of the chapters in the book so you should read the text book to get a better understanding but other than that there is really no additional work. Definitely take this class

If you haven't taken Prof. Ira M Sohn don't take him you will have a tough time, he keeps on talking about himself and some investment he lost in another country. He is a tough grader and doesn't give any one a change if you make a mistake. Live's in the stone age without email, so you won't contact him. I fully regret taking this prof.

This class is not easy. As a business MINOR course, it took major studying time a commitment. You really have to pay attention and keep up with what he's lecturing about. Luckily he curves so it should work out in the end. Just don't expect an easy A.

I don't know why there are so many complants! He is a great professor! he keeps me awake, cracks a few jokes, and his exams are straight from the back of the text book. u can pull an easy B+ from studying the night before he has 3 exams each 28 questions, multiple choice. extremely east only the last 4 problems are tricky! a very good professor!

His tests are so hard and have nothing to do about what he talks about in class or whats in the book. I have both the text book and study guide and both did not prepare me for his exams. He's a smart guy but doesn't know how to apply his knowledge to the class. Don't take him.

This is the second time I have taken Dr. Sohn, and both classes were structured the same way: boring classes with huge curves on tests. The class may drag on and you may bomb the tests, but with the curves he gives, it's pretty much impossible to fail. Difficult to reach though, since he isn't on e-mail.

Very good professor. He knows his stuff, very wise but class is hard though. You need to do a lot of reading to fully understand this course. Even if you fail the 3 exams you will still pass this class. He curves the grades a lot.
