RECOMMEND. No tests. 14 Chapter Quizzes that are straight from the book/quizlet. Weekly role plays via Googlehangouts, find a partner quick, run over your script a few times before recording and pay attention to the material he gives you on d2l and follow the rubric and you will get an A/B depending on quiz grades. Final is final 20 minute roleplay

No tests. 14 Chapter Quizzes that are straight from the book. The only part of this class that was tough was the role plays. He grades critically on these, however pay attention to the material he gives you on d2l and follow the rubric and you will get an A (If you do well on the quizzes) or a B.

Took this class online. Easy class. Simpliy do the work and you'll pass. One big group project that you'll work on throughout the semester, 4 online tests, 22 online quizzes, 3 two page papers, and 7 online discussions. Turn everything in and do the extra credit and you'll get an A!

Comment:
DO NOT TAKE. He gives 100 question online exams that took me 3 hours to complete each time. He isn't clear on what he wants you to do for assignments, but grades very harshly. Unless you are a mind reader, don't take this class. He seems nice, but this class was just a whirlwind of confusion.

Dr. Selden is a great professor. Attend class, do the required work, and you will get an A. I strongly suggest reaching out to him directly for ?s pertaining to the real world sales activities. SARĂ¢€™s are a huge part of showing him what you are doing outside the classroom for your sales assignment.DO THESE- they are more valuable than you think!

Although I wasn't interested in marketing, but he was interested in teaching. He is a nice guy. The exams are take home. Big part of grade is group work. I highly recommend him.

I've taken him twice now and it's always the same story. Attendance is mandatory, yet he can cancel class because he has to go somewhere...but you better not miss class or he will be sure to let you know about it. Don't miss the first day of class or else you will spend the rest of the semester trying to get on his good side.

Dr. Selden didn't go by the book at all. In fact, it's useless to buy because he expects you to regurgitate the info he gives you in class, which frequently contradicts his slides. Very unclear. Large group project that is fairly simple. Attendance is mandatory/graded. Take if you want an A, don't take if you want to learn anything or stay sane.

This class is mandatory for marketing majors- not happy about that, but Selden acts like this class is NOT mandatory and gets irritated if you don't put your all into it. I had to miss one of the role plays due to something personal and he chewed me out and told me I was wasting his time and taking up a seat.I did not like him or his teaching style

This is for an MBA level class. Open book quizzes every week. the majority of the time you are working in teams developing a presentation of different intergrated marketing communications subjects. In this class, there was presentations on youtube, product placement, mobile cellphones, etc. Objective is use IMC.

Mr. Selden is a nice man. Gives extra creditfor a better grade if you are not that great in role playing. We had weekly online quizzes instead of test. Got an A, overall good experience

Selden is great! All tests are open book, and the majority of your grade is "in class role plays". It is very helpful and an easy A. Take it if you can!

Professor Selden brings a ton of real world sales experience into the classroom. He is very easy to listen to and creates a fun and entertaining class atmosphere. He focuses on real world success more than grades and inspires students to give their best effort. I would highly recommend any of Prof. Selden's classes.

This class (creativity and innovation) really isn't taught by Dr. Selden. He just supervises. It's taught by several other pros. Very good class. Enjoyed it very much. Interactive and interesting.

Selden seems to be very honest. So I have to say, he honestly didn't really seem to like teaching a beginner marketing course, but it balanced out cause it seemed like most of the students didn't really like taking a beginner marketing course.Nevertheless he was still good at teaching it. Has a New Yorker brand of humor which is cool. Always cool to hear him say "Wow!!!"

Innovation class is really taught by outside speakers. Excellent content and group exercises. Requires 5 full days + after hours for group project. Recommend taking MKTG 8030 first, but not prereq. Understanding positioning will help with main assignment. Tools taught in class are powerful, but it is tempting to skip past using them as intended.

This was a 5 day class with about 7 guest speakers which taught tons of stuff on Leadership and Creativity. I learned more in this class than I did my entire graduate and undergrad education. It was great and Gary was continually available for anything. (A big bonus too was that this class was catered!)

I took him online for MKTG 3100 and there was so much cheezy busy work, that driving down and sitting through lectures would have been less work. I don't recommend him for online subjects.

Easy; former dental salesman; little insight. paled in comparison to other Coles Profs. Poor Class Preparation; Take him if you want a fairly easy class. If experienced & looking to learn something, pass him up.
