Dr. Plunka expects a lot from students, but students can learn a lot from him. He writes books on English literature, so students respect that. He encourages class participation and loves to teach the material.

Dr. Plunka expects you to do the work and be prepared. As long as you read the materials he tells you, take REALLY good notes, and just generally engage in the class then everything will be fine. Also, show up to class or you will get your grade docked.

Dr. Plunka is obviously knowledgeable about his subject, but his lectures can be monotonous. Many studnets seemed uncomfortable answering questions in class because Dr. Plunka would crticize answers that we felt were not up to par.

Not a good teacher. Yes, he spews lots of information, but he carries an air of superiority--and this is in a class of potential graduate students. He is extremely favorable toward phd candidates and very condescending to those who are not phd candidates. His polices on tardiness are nuts. It's as if this is 8th grade.

Very strict about his classroom rules. No bathroom breaks, if you leave your book more than 2 times you get points deducted, if you get to class late points deducted, miss 4 classes? F in class, no matter what. Lectures long and boring. Will call you out if you fall asleep in class. Not funny, can't hear him sometimes

Ooookayyy, so personality aside, he knows what he's talking about. He's passionate about Theater and the lectures are amazing. The plays were also amazing. The problem is just the teacher's personality. He's most definitely arrogant and is a VERY stubborn man. Don't forget the plays! Don't be a minute late! SPEAK PLEASE !

Comment:
A very pompous man who gives a pedantic final exam. He dismisses any opinion that differs from his. The cruel irony is that he teaches drama and seems to have no interest in seeing the performances of any of the plays he teaches.

The only good thing I have to say about this professor is that he knows the material he teaches. Aside from that, I would never accept him as a teacher. He is outright rude to his students, humiliates them in class, and talks down on people who present their own opinions on a subject, which is an important aspect of english. DO NOT TAKE.

Dr. Plunka was one of the best professors I've taken in the English Department. He knows the subject thoroughly and wants graduate students to learn the material. The course was very helpful when I took the M.A. comprehensive exams.

Plunka was very rude. Sometimes helpful because he loves his job, I assume. But overall he was very judgmental and misused his authority. He's also humiliated students in class and likes to make slight threats about failing you. I do believe with true discipline you can pass but one false move and you might not make the cut! You've been warned!

Dr. Plunka is very passionateknowledgable about theater & literature. He's written several books on theater & drama, & his interest & passion for the subject are evident. Not that the lectures are particularly exciting or interesting, they're pretty dry except for the class discussion part. He takes participation grade seriously. You have to talk.

Dr. Plunka is a challenging instructor. He expects superior effort and performance from his students. The result of this is that his students work harder to meet his expectations and learn more in the process. He is an excellent instructor. Dr. Plunka`s class has made me a better writer, a better reader, and a better student.
