Was her last semester. A lot of it was fun, but a lot of it was ridiculous too. Some debates were relevant and intelligent, then others were about the Easter bunny. Because she doesn't post grades, I was worried the whole semester. How I got an A- with how harsh of a grader she is..... is baffling.

SHE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER! some debates can be a lot of work but besides all the debate presentations you don't really get any homework so you can't complain. she is an amazing teacher! take her as much as you can!!!!!!!!!!!!! words cant describe how awesome she is at teaching. you will definitely walk away from this class learning A LOT! :)

She is amazing!!! One of the best at what she does. She makes class very enjoyable, and her passion for debate rubs off on you. We smoked our competition in tournaments because we were so prepared. Take her!! You'll love her. She also understands that we all have lives outside of class. This is my 2nd class with her and she's been great twice

Austin-Lett is the best of the best! Yes, she comes off as strict at first. But she is absolutely awesome once you get to know her. She is passionate about debate. She is darn good at it and a fabulous speaker. Very inspirational. You will work hard, but it's worth it. She is smart, helpful, witty and intelligent. You'll never be the same afterward

Do not take Comm 140 from her, trust me, as someone who has been involved in debate for years, she has no idea what she's doing. Take 140 from Dr. Todd, she actually understands debate as it exists today, not as it existed 40 years ago. Todd was also a national champion in debate, Austin Lett never debated.

It takes time to warm up to Austin-Lett. She comes off kind of gruff- don't be afraid of her- go see her in her office for help. You don't really "need" the book-but you really "need" to come to class. It's all about practicing in front of others and doing your homework. Professor Austin-Lett is a teacher for those who really want to learn how to debate. She throws you into practicing right away, and helps you on the way. Genelle- Austin-lett has been the best teacher that I have encountered at SJSU. Her classes have taught me so much more that I could have ever expected. Both of these classes were fun, easygoing, and worth anyones time. I think that they were both resonably easy if you do the work. I Highly recommend takeing any class by Austin-Lett :)

Don't let the intimidation scare you. She is very sweet and helpful. Ask for help, don't assume she will proactive. Great with debate form and tactics. Extremely knowledgable and great teacher. No tests, three different debates including one as a final.
