Comment:

The best comm professor at USD. Ghio is my advisor and teacher and I've never respected a professor more. He makes you want to learn & do well in his class because he is so likable. He is reasonable, fair, but such an amazing teacher. He breaks down concepts in a relatable way. He works with students because he wants you to do well. TAKE HIM!

Comment:

Public speaking is usually not fun but Professor Ghio made this my favorite class this semester. He is really funny and always makes the class interesting. He helps students improve a lot and I am a lot more comfortable with public speaking and speech writing. Highly highly recommend!

One of the best professors I've had at USD. Made the class time go by so fast. A very engaging professor with a lot of funny stories. The tests were mostly from his lectures, and a touch of the. book. His class is the reason that I am going to be a communications major. You don't want to miss his class. If you study even a little, you'll pass

Professor Ghio is straightforward, dynamic, and personable. He actually engages you in the material during lectures, and we often ended early. With this class, you need to be willing to study in order to do well. We never needed the textbook during class, but he sometimes puts things from the book on the test.

Comment:

Ghio is a very lively, humorous, and nice guy. His lectures are extremely straightforward and you will get to know your classmates through group and in class activities, which is cool. Make sure you actually read the book, the tests pull kind of obscure book facts and are actually semi-hard. He's very worth taking, do it!

Professor Ghio is definitely a fun professor. Attendance mandatory though. He goes off book a lot though so take good notes. Pretty straightforward about what's on his tests but you do have to study for them to make a difference (he sometimes includes book material he didn't go over in class.)

Comment:

Ghio is an engaging and funny teacher, and makes the material relatable and easy to understand. I found there was a disconnect from reading material (which is a lot) to lecture material, and he tested us on material in the reading he did not cover in class. Overall, not a lot of work though, class is optional, and an easy A.

Professor Ghio is a funny and nice guy! He was always very clear and helpful in class with any questions. Tests are semi-hard because you don't know what you are being tested on. Be prepared for group work and speeches in class, but they are never as bad as they seem. Overall, it was a really enjoyable class!!

He expects you to hang on his every word. He refuses to write anything down or put anything online, so its difficult to understand what he wants. Don't expect any higher than a B+ if you aren't one of his favorites. His grading is VERY subjective.

Really funny, great prof. Mandatory class More than 4 absences=grade drops by one whole letter. 4 official speeches. numerous ungraded impromptus, 1 graded. 1 midterm (study!). final isnt fully cumulative. random quizzes from readings so do the readings on time. hes a stickler about grading speeches, if you prepare REALLY well its possible to get A

Amazing speaker and teacher. Very funny. Two tests, random quizzes from readings, one group project, one speech, final isn't totally cumulative. class isn't mandatory, but i highly recommend going b/c the stuff he says in class is what's on the test. Possible to get an A if you tried hard and go into office hours. Do the readings on time.

TAKE GHIO. Hes hot and fun. Doesn't teach class off of a powerpoint like most of your boring classes! His tests through you some curve balls from the reading, but most of the stuff he gives you during class. I have taking him for both 101 and Public Speaking and wish he offered more classes. Definitely my favorite Comm professor!

Amazing professor! His class helped me realize that I wanted to be a Comm major. I underestimated how hard the first test was going to be and completely bombed it, but with his help, I was able to pass the class with a pretty good grade. Read the book and study a fair amount before the tests and you'll do fine.

Ghio is the greatest! He's the best professor I've had at this school so far. He's so personable, you can't help but like him. The class itself was pretty easy- 3 tests, a group project, and an individual speech. We did activities every week along with lecture. I'm not a comm major/minor, but I plan on taking more classes with Ghio!
