he really knows his stuff, but in my opinion he is not good professor. He assigns a ton of homework and he never goes over it. When you ask him questions, he explains, but if you don't get it on the first try he gets upset and raises his voice. I haven't passed any of the tests, but i'm sticking with it because everybody talks about the crazy curve

He is very helpful professor. I never got good grades for the mid terms but ended up getting B-. I used to ask him questions about homework and attend extra homework sessions after the class. He may be hard to understand but that is very minor. He writes small on the board but a very intelligent and kind teacher.

Been in this class for one week, and I decided to stick with it. You can understand Dr. Xu if you listen carefully and read his notes on the board. His collectivist cultural background is an asset because he will not move on in a lecture until everyone understands. He spins erasers around like planets if that's what it takes to get us to understand

Dr. Xu is really passionate to teach Physics. He makes sure that everybody understand and try to explain to understand. I really had fun in that class. And if you have question, he is willing to help you. Even though he got some Chinese accent, if you try to understand what he is saying, you will get used to it. I recommend him!

I've basically tried all physics 1321 professors and this was the best of them. If you attend class, listen, and write down his notes on the board, you should be in good shape for the class. Test questions are very similar to the examples he does on the board so pay attention! Overall, good professor. I would recommend you taking him!

very dedicated, patient teacher. concisely explains subtle points you'll miss if you read the book. attend lectures and solve problems and you're good - sounds simple but hard to practice. hw problems are bit easy. wish he'd covered the complete syllabus. best phys prof!!

Going to class is a waste of time, you can't understand a thing he says. The exams are nothing like the homework which he never goes over. Miserable professor.

The best physics professor I have ever had. Must attend class, be sure not to miss any lecture. Most of his questions come from his lectures. Understand what is being taught in the classroom and the homework, and you will do fine. Does have an accent but is easy to figure out what he is trying to say.Very helpful and extremely patient.

Mr. Xu is a very intelligent man who knows his physics very well. He inspires me to want to minor in it more and more within every lecture. His only problem is that he expects us to do the hardest homework problems. If you take his class be prepared to study, study, study. Study his lectures the most, test questions come from there.

BEWARE! he is not the easiest teacher around period. Obviously knows his stuff but has a thick chinese accent so its near impossible to understand him. Lectures are unorganized and it seems like sometimes he just throws stuff out there randomly. helps you outside of class if he feels like it. I wouldn't reccomend him..

He's very hard to understand but his grading scale is very lenient. You have a good chance of passing even though you won't learn a thing.

I made the mistake of taking his class for summer school. Never do this! He is obviously a really smart guy, but he has a very thick Chinese accent that makes it hard to follow his lectures. Unless you have a strong background in physics, PHYS 1306 is hard to begin with. Taking Xu for this class only makes it harder.

If you like to learn on your own take him. You can't really understand him; has a THICK accent. He is a VERY VERY slow teacher. By the time other classes had taken their 3rd exam we hadn't taken our 2nd one. Now our final is worth like 50% of our grade. If you get him one on one, he's very very helpful but other than that good luck!

My class was intro to astronomy but the way he taught you'd think it was a graduate level physics seminar... and about that curve, it's not cause he wants to it's cause he has to, no one in my class could have passed I went from a high 30 to a high 70...
