The worst professor I have ever taken at CSUN. He goes on rants for the entire 2 hours and 45 min of class and nothing he ever says makes any sense. On top of all of that he is rude. Avoid him at all costs. I would've rather graduated late than have taken his class.

Howard's projects seem simple but the criteria is unclear. Partway through the semester he decided to add a final paper. The paper was the only time that we used the required textbook. His feedback is unhelpful and he shows little respect for his student's time and their work. If you enjoy graphic design, avoid him. He'll make you hate it.

Very unorganized and unclear class structure, wastes a whole 2 hour 45 min class every class, makes you feel horrible about your work because he has all these critiques that completely change your work instead of appreciating your style and giving tips to make it better, unclear criteria and then never gives the grade u feel u deserve

Don't take this guy under no circumstances!!! He will mess up with your GPA! Horrible at grading. Every time he is looking at your project - he is never happy, and every time you changed with him he will forget it next class and not gonna be happy with the process of your project again... The class has no structure at all. Horrible.

he looked at my work, made a few adjustments & told me to tweak up my design for the final review. I did exactly as i was told & i included his revisions too. The day of crit, this guy does a 360 and tells me my project doesnt meet the project guidelines after he ok'd it. WHAT??? the guy is subjective and provides no solid constructive criticism

Every single assignment in his class requires you to buy new materials that are expensive and otherwise useless. He teaches the principles of design like an objective science, but grades your projects with his own nonsensical brand of subjectivity. There is no clear way to please him. He always finds something negative and non-constructive to say.

This professor is a nice guy, but extremely unclear in his directions, and vague in suggestions. Practically no lectures--mostly lab. Never worked on exercises in class from textbook, hardly any demonstrations on InDesign. If he likes your project on Tuesday, he'll say it looks awful and awkward on Thursday. He is so indecisive.

here are some adjectives to describe this professor: incomprehensible, indecisive, confusing, subjective, unclear, forgetful, arrogant, extremely boring. I didn't learn anything in his class except that i hated going to his class.lowers the grade substantially for petty mistakes and doesnt let you redo projects/assignments. find another professor!!

Nice guy but very hard to please. Grading is subject to his mood. Work on projects most classes - a plus for me. 1 test on textbook, font search is final, 1 group presentation, approx. 6 projects. Didn't like that projects overlapped. Ask for examples of previous students work! Learned a lot about typography but prob. wouldn't take him again.
