He loves his subject, and knows a lot on it. If you take decent notes on his powerpoints, and write things down from the group presentations, you'll do well. He posts review questions online to help you study for exams. He's a wonderful professor!

Comment:

I took this class online and enjoyed it very much. Dr. Kahn is very communicative and responsive. Feels very present for an online class. He is very clear with instructions. Not much room for confusion about what's expected. Required participation. Long but interesting textbook. Tests on small details so it requires attention. Good tests.

I've taken geo 106 and 326 from him and I have found his tests easy. I have also found that IF you visit his office hours and get to know him he can be very accomodating and helpful. I recomend him

Although he seems to know a lot, or at least he likes to talk a lot, he doesn't really care about the students learning. He doesn't require attendance, but he throws unannounced in-class written assignments. He doesn't post his powerpoint lectures, but rather questions about what he may have covered in class. Has students do the teaching for him.

Love this guy haha hes adorable cause he really likes what hes talking about and hes so nice. dont take this class if you cant pay attention cause he gets into it. test are hard but everything else is good. interesting actually

Very good teacher. Knowledgable. Easy class if you go to lectures. Map quizzes pretty much each week but I got 100% on all of them. Some assignments but mainly all in-class. Definitely recommend it.

Likes to flip on and off the lights. (I'm not sure what this is about). Possible ADHD with the lectures, likes to go back and forth between slides on the power point... fun... you have like 10.8 seconds to write the notes for one slide then he flips to the other. Must show up for every class, like to give surprise essays especially on Fridays.

Very interesting class. Lectures are fun. There are several different activities to boost your grade; map quizzes, presentations, essay, in-class writing asignments. The tests are very challenging. Reading the book is a must; unfortunately the books he selects are dry and packed with too much information.

I took this for Bacc Core, and wouldn't advise it for that purpose... Learned a lot, but it was WAY more info than I was expecting, I did reading and went to lectures and still had to guess on half the stuff on tests!! Seemed easiest for people who had visited or knew a lot about Europe already.

I also just took this class for Bacc Core, and I ended up S/Uing the class because I knew I wasn't going to get an A/B for my grade. The textbook was boring for this class, and it was a very boring class. But he is a good prof!

He's a great teacher, but I just took this class for bacc core credit and it was way too much information to handle. The textbook was incredibly dull... I S/U'ed the class and it was very easy to pass. Definitely a good prof though, the lectures weren't too boring either.

Really easy class, and a great guy. Ask him anything and he can talk about it for hours, or simplify it to one or two sentances. Got a great grade, and I didnt even have to work that hard.Very interesting.
