Comment:

Jeffrey is now Julie, and she is fantastic. She completely changed the course layout so it's more participation based, with daily opportunities for extra credit (questions are difficult). The weight on tests was also split up, so no pressure if you fail one. Very interested in student learning, and the class average ended as a B. Would recommend.

Comment:

He seems to have difficulty communicating the main ideas in the course, and is unable to relate to the students to explain the ideas. Seems uninterested at times. He also instructs much higher courses (Bio Phys/Bio Chem), so perhaps he is used to a advanced class. I would not take again. I would not recommend this professor to a friend.

I liked Dr. Greenwoods class a lot and I learned a lot about cell biology. He showed us his own research on cancer and how cancer works in the body. He also provided ample examples of MCAT and GRE questions that really test your knowledge.

As a person, I liked Dr. Greenwood. As an instructor though, he was too focused on his own research and on the small insignificant details. I feel like I am leaving this class without a complete understanding of the general concepts but with a few specific examples memorized.

I like Dr.Greenwood. His slides are clear, and he doesn't try to trick you on his tests. He tells you exactly what you need to know and besides the multiple choice its all straight from the book. And he shows fun videos in class to keep you interested. I've never gone to his office hours, but overall he seems like a nice guy

The tests are useless and all short answer, which he grades more difficult. The best way to contact him would be either to call him or see him in person because he'll take roughly 4-6 days to respond to a email, which all he said to me was, "It's too difficult to answer, please come to my office hours." I would highly avoiding this teacher.

I liked this class a lot. Tests were fairly easy. He told us what 40% of the questions would be, which was nice. He made a difficult class both easy and interesting. The book was not very helpful. If you still have the BI 211/2/3 book, I would suggest using that for the molecular part. Be prepared to listen to him talk about cancer a lot though.

Class wasn't hard. Don't miss a day, though, because you'll need the extra points to make up for the terrible grade that you WILL get on the term paper. Directions are extremely vague. Meet with him if you don't understand!! It was a really interesting class, and besides the term paper and 4000 word take home midterm, it wasn't that difficult.

He is a very deceiving grader. Graded the midterm super easy and then, using the same style and format, graded the final a lot harder. The term paper will break your grade. Don't take it lightly. He is very vague on his requirements for his assignments. I met all the requirements for the term paper but still failed the paper. Take another course...

J. Greenwood did an alright job teaching the class I guess. I absolutely hated this class, but it wasn't because of his teaching. I'm just not interested in the material covered. Be prepared to listen to him ramble on and on about cancer and tumors (what he does his research on). I'd suggest attending the lectures or at least reading the book.

He is an unfair grader and cannot give adequate reasoning for the way he grades. He does not explain the science aspects of the course well either. Half the class is spent in group discussion, which, in my opinion, is a waste of my tuition money. Also, don't try to argue with him... you are wrong. You will always be wrong if you disagree.

Taught the second half of BI 314 - Spring 05. Overall pleasant experience with this teacher. The video clips he showed in class were helpful in understanding the mechanisms and concepts. First test was really easy and his final was challenging. I didn't sleep that night so may have affected my performance. I pulled an A though overall.
