She doesn't take attendance but lowers your participation grade if you don't go to class. Assigns a lot of homework but I never did any of it and got a B-. The tests and quizzes aren't too hard as long as you study. She will do everything in her power to try and help you learn Italian. Moves through chapters faster than other Italian professors.

LOVE HER!! By far, Manghisi is one of the best professors at SJU. Such a sweetheart and extremely helpful. Cares so much for her students and definitely goes the extra mile. So long as you put effort into the class, you will do great! Even if you aren't good with languages, you will love her class! Take her!!

Manghisi is an amazing teacher and if you hate languages like I did, I would recommend taking her. She is extremely helpful and really wants students to learn to like the language, at least a little more than when they entered the class. Such a sweet lady, if you can, definitely take her!

I hate Italian and boy does she know it. I could hardly care less about learning the language and she tries hard to engage me into learning. Take her! You get homework throughout the semester, but it really does help you come time for the tests. Definitely isn't a class you need to worry about. Just took the final and it was a piece of cake. She also brought a giant pizza to the classroom for us to eat during the test. So sweet. I'm taking her again next semester.
