Hw doesnt boost your grade, in fact lowers your grade. Exam is terribly made, the practice exam on blackboard is easier than the actual exam. A lot of material not heavily emphasized

its really great when they keep deleting your reviews... please stay way from this professor. not a people person at all. was pleased that people were getting 10/15 points on quizzes because last year people were getting 3/15 points. :(

All I had to do was write a couple papers and do a group project. Other than that, I found his classes very informational. He always has good guest speakers and is very knowledgeable about the programs and UT in general. Not a huge people person, but he's not bad.

This class was difficult but i really learned to appreciate it in bio 2. He was very enthusiastic. Lectures were long and boring but gave you what you needed for test. SI was incredibly helpful. Held Q&A sessions before tests. Gives extra credit on tests. If you want to pass then you have to opportunity. Didnt use the book much, just SI and notes.

He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had! If you don't read the book you will not pass this class and if you do read the book you still won't do well in this class! He will put the most specific random stuff as the test questions. I do NOT advise taking his class!

He was a very tough teacher but teaches a tough subject. You have to be interested to do well in this class. He gets scatterbrained at times and off topic but will help. He won't raise your grade at all, you get what you get.

As a student who generally makes all A's, this class killed me. His tests were impossible to pass and there was way too much material. You would never know what was going to be on the tests, which were extremely detailed. It is hard to stay focused for his never ending lectures. I will not take another class by this professor.

Professor Plenefisch is a very intelligent man. I was amazed by his knowledge of biology, not just about plants but the physiology part too. He is a very understanding person, so feel free to go to his office hours and ask him for help, he will be willing to

Due to large class size, it's more challenging for Mr. P to make sure that everyone understands the lectures. During lectures, he walks around the auditorium to get answers to questions. He expects you to read the book and pay attention. Not going to the lectures won't kill you. Just be sure to read, do pre-class quizzes, and don't forget the hmwrk

His lectures are very unorganized and so much info is given out. 1. Always skim the chapter the night before lecture, it will help you with clicker questions. 2. Use a laptop to take lecture notes, he spews out so much information so fast and is constantly changing slides. 3. Study the online quiz questions and your textbook to do well on exams.

Not the clearest lecturer. Gets sidetracked easily and is very jumpy around the room. Likes to get the class involved, but loses train of thought often.

Plenefisch is a really intelligent professor, and tries to make things interesting. That being said, he's very scatterbrained. It's hard to follow his lectures. The tests are beyond brutal. Study the book more than the notes.

Very few assignments for this class. We did 6 short assignments, 1 ppt presentation, and a 7 page minimum term paper. The in-class was simple, just read an article he gives you online and discuss it in class. Word of advice, start your paper earlier than the last week of class like I did.

Definitely a hard class, especially to take my first semester of college. It's not impossible though. He is entertaining and knows his stuff; just make sure you put in the time to study before his exams because they can be pretty tough. Overall I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot.

Dr. Plenefish by no means makes the class easy, however if you actually take the time to learn the material properly, the class is very rewarding. His tests are difficult, but there are other opportunities to raise your grade through homework and attendance. Dr. Plenefish is extremely knowledgeable in his subject.

Dr. Plenefisch is an absolute genius, but he does not always communicate that very well to his students. His lectures tend to be scattered in thought, and his tests are beyond brutal. Nice guy, just very difficult to take. While I didn't like the difficulty, he would be the first person I would go to for biology advice hands down.
