Comment:
I had Dr. Queen for both PS 102 & 104. Both classes follow the same outline; T/F multiple choice quizzes based on readings & 2 papers, a midterm & final. Quizzes can be tricky if you don't close-read. He can be a tough grader on the essays, so make sure to follow the prompt, & ask him if you have any questions. Wish I talked to him more;he's v nice

This guy is a genius, plain and simple. He should be teaching at the "Big U" Im still waiting on my grade but I am pretty sure I received an "A". AND you CAN too! All you have to do is read the book, its not that much reading. HE is reasonable he gives you enough time to read, and then you have two essays. It will require hardwork, but worth it.

Dr. Queen is a respectable and incredibly adept professor. My TWO gripes would be his rather monotone lectures (when he's talking about things that don't necessarily interest him) and his "die by few things" grading. However, I survived, and you can too. Trust me, he's not as bad as others say. I didn't do any work and got an A. EZPZ aper jan!

Comment:
The class is lecture-heavy with powerpoints that give very basic outlines to complicated political ideas. There is no homework to supplement the learning. There are only four tests (T/F only) plus one essay to determine your grade. Do not recommend AT ALL unless you already know a LOT about American politics. This should not be an intro class.

Highly DO NOT recommend! If you want to read over 180 pages for each quiz, do absolutely NOTHING in class pertaining to your grade except hear him talk abt pointless topics that have NOTHING to do with class, take him. Offers NO help whatsoever. Classes are the biggest WASTE of time, quizzes are all T&F;No notes-guidelines-outlines. ALLMemorization

The class is entirely based on the readings rather than the lectures. Readings are tough and take a lot of time to read/analyze. Prof will often go on tangents not directly related to the readings making it difficult to identify what material is important and what isn't. Very knowledgable professor but don't take unless a major req.

Hes clearly one sided on the type of politics he talks about which is fine but I think that a Political Science Professor should try to teach both sides and processes in politics, wanna learn about political decision making take a philosophy class. Other than that hes an easy professor quizzes are easy essay is the final so dont stress out

You won't find a better political science professor at GCC. Nicest guy and interesting class. If you're not a poli sci major I don't recommend but if you are then you will love this class.

I wouldnt take him again but thats just my opinion, this class is meant for those who are into politics. He has constant class discussions, doesnt really make it interesting so its hard to pay attention. His essays arent so hard but its not easy to get an A.

Very disorganized and has no clear strategy for lecturing. Powerpoints are impossible to understand without his lectures. Without reading 2 textbooks, you will not pass. Doesn't grade and you won't know your grade until halfway through the semester or later. One of the 4 worst professors I've ever taken in college.

This class require much reading! But the readings are actually interesting. He is a nice man and offers a lot of feedback or help when you go to his office hours. Also replaces final grade with midterm if you do better. Quizzes super easy if you do readings! He grades essays hard but you can still get an A in the class even if u get B onessay

I've taken him for two semesters (104) and (102). He is so funny and intelligent and so caring! If you put in the work you'll get the grade you deserve. Always looked forward to going to his class! He's an absolute gem and GCC needs more teachers like him! Grade is based on quizzes and 2 essays. His class still gives me anxiety but i love him

4 true false quizzes, drops lowest grade. 1 midterm essay. 1 final essay. replaces midterm grade with final grade if you do better. you HAVE to read to pass the quizzes because he doesn't go over everything. The only thing I disliked was he keeps lecturing on stuff that was on the quiz AFTER the quiz. I could deal with his monotone lectures.

Dr. Queen is one of my fav profs, though I had a crap semester the time I took him. He's super understanding & will work with you if you approach him! T/F quizzes & 2 essays (Mid/Final). Not difficult, but you gotta put in work. Show up and read, you'll be fine. He's brilliant, really funny, & as a PoliSci major I just wanna pick his brain all day.

A lot of people complain about his "harsh" grading however if you're a polisci major he definitely prepares you for the standard of schools like UCLA whether you like it or not. T/F quizzes based on the assigned readings and a midterm paper and a final paper.

The biggest problem is that his lectures are monotonous and do not teach all of the material before the tests. However, he drops one out of four test grades and will raise your midterm essay grade to match your final essay grade if you improve. The midterm and final are both take-home essays and you are given a week to complete them.

The class consists of 4 semi-difficult T/F quizzes and two essays. He drops your lowest quiz score and replaces your midterm essay score with the final one if you improved. Incredibly boring lectures that you don't really have to go to. Keep up with the readings and you should be okay. Not the most stimulating class or professor.

Comment:
Boring lectures that have little to do with course material and seem pointless. Mumbles quietly, impossible to hear at the last 2 rows. Interrupts students, not letting answer. Instead of wanting to share information he keeps long pauses after question, repeating what, nobody knows? and seems to enjoy that he caught people not knowing answer.
