Retired; talented actor, but not always approachable. Expects a lot from his students, especially the talented ones. Can be harsh at times.

Comment:
I learned from Mr. Farris that the foundation to a successful Dekker performance lies in the actor's ability to speak in iambic pentameter. No modern audience could accept, or comprehend anything less. A director who focuses all attention on this fact is a success, doubtlessly deserving his Jag.

One time he made fun of Donato because he dropped his script on the floor. But c'mon. The guy had his right leg tied up at the knee. Jon Farris will go down in history remembered as our beloved admiral, Captain Blood. I learned how to be both hateful and efficient enough to get a smoke break.

Dr. Farris's writing advice will stick with me for life, as will his compelling lectures. He can be intimidating, but once you talk to him, you'll realize that he's an incredibly caring, funny, charming person. He's also great fun to watch on the stage.

He gives useful acting advice, but he often expects the same skil from non-theatre majors as he does theatre majors.
