Excellent instructor. Gives extra credit every lecture. Exams and quizzes were fairly straightforward. Very generous curve even after the adjusted scale he gives in the syllabus. Very accessible outside of class.

Easier than regular Ochem 1. Took in Fall 2018. Homework isn't graded (nice but dangerous). "Quizzes" were graded group recitation activities w/ old exam problems. Decent amount of extra practice resources. Fair exams. "Extra credit challenges" given almost every lecture, so read the book ahead of class. He could use more examples in lecture.

Dr. Parquette is the best professor I've had at OSU. The course is challenging, but he goes over the material at a nice pace, has in class practice problems, and is very easy to talk to in office hours and in class. I would've had an A without the curve, and I think most people in our class had A/A- grades. I liked this better than honors gen chem.

Dr. Parquette was very nice all semester. His curve is fair, but his tests are incredibly hard.

Dr. Parquette is an amazing instructor and really knows how to simplify very abstract concepts! Of course an honors organic chemistry class is going to be difficult, so be prepared to read your textbook if you don't understand everything in class! The many bonus quizzes during lecture also help out your grade a lot! He's a great guy!

He is a nice guy and wants the class to succeed. Lectures were fairly straightforward, he offered bonus, and exams made you think (but any ochem exam makes you think)! Only gripe is that he doesn't put anything online, so you really have to rely on the book (which I didn't think was very good) to learn the stuff if you don't get it in lecture.

Easy Class gives a ton of extra credit. Do Book problems and rewrite notes and you will get an A. I had more than enough points that I could have not gone to the final and still gotten an A in the class because of the extra credit. Extra credit is almost like 20% of the grade.

Keep in mind this is ochem. He goes "fast" in lectures, but so do all other chem professors. He gives extra during EVERY lecture and they add up to more than 10% of your grade! If you have any questions, he does his best to explain them clearly. He spices up lectures with jokes and actually fun chem memories and references.

I came into the semester excited because the people here on rate my prof spoke highly of him. I honestly couldn't stand the guy. He would teach the material as fast as possible and after every few minutes he would quickly add "any questions?" And move on. Only practice given for his HARD exams were easy book problems. Don't take him, take Callam.

Lectures are alright notes are kinda scattered and have nothing to do with the tests. IF you want organized notes on mechanisms go to the book. Group quizzes but don't bank on your partners to always know everything. You have to pull your weight. Tests are honestly horrendous compared to what he explains in lecture.

Had a very clear cut way of presenting the material and offered extra credit challenges of 5 extra points for each correct response. Roughly 2 challenges a week. The class was 685 points with 2 exams 9 quizzes and a final. By the end of the class I had over 100 points in extra credit added post-bump upcurve. Am taking again for 2520.

Decent professor. Tends to explain things that matter little in the long run but you'll get what you need to know. I was a little irked after the first exam since I expected multiple IR questions and there was only one. That through me off, but you can reasonably manage a B.

He has recently changed his grading scheme a bit and the exams are quite difficult. He is a very knowledgeable guy and REALLY wants students to ask questions during lecture. He doesn't mind repeating himself 2 or 3 times to help students understand. group quizzes are easy but exams are tough but its ochem, they're never going to be easy... I rec.

He used power point at the first couple weeks of the lectures which were quite confusing, but it got better after he started to use the black board to teach the mechanisms and reactions. His class is extremely easy. I got an A without any curve. Go to his lecture. Everything he put on the exams came directly from the lecture.

I had Callam for 251 and fought for a B. Parquette was much easier but I still felt that I understood the subject. I ended up with an A in the class. The notes are key, all the midterms come straight from his notes! The final was definitely harder but very doable. Go to class, listen, take good notes, and you'll do fine!
