Comment:
Karp is one of the best professors in the Rider sci dept. He really cares about his students success as long as you show that youre willing to work hard & ask questions. ASK QUESTIONS! He is very willing to help. If skip class or dont ask questions he has no sympathy for you. Tests are hard but straight forward. I preferred him in BNS275/118

This was a great class. Lectures were extremely interesting. This is not a memorize class. I had to bust my butt and I'm proud of my grade. The students who complained the most were expecting to be able to memorize things and spit them back on the exam - that wont work here. Karp's extremely helpful if you show interest.

His lectures are really good and he makes it easy to understand the material but his tests had nothing to do with what we actually learned. He gives you the test from last semester but don't waste your time, they don't help. No matter if you think you're doing well he is still a horrible grader. Nothing will make you feel prepared for his tests.

Comment:
This was the hardest class I've ever taken. It's not because of the material, but his tests are absolutely ridiculous. He is also the toughest grader on any assignment. I'm assuming his other classes are easier due to the positive feedback, but BNS 118 was brutal.

If you don't like science do not take. I thought it would be like Psychology, it isn't. A lot of extra credit, which is good. No homework or anything besides tests. Don't use the textbook at all.

karp is literally one of my favorite professors. He notices when a a person is a hardworking student and he will help them succeed in anyway he can. He is so knowledgable about his subjects. He calls himself mean and ornery, but he really is just a big teddy bear. His classes are hard but you learn so much. Take him and work hard

Average professor. Believes all students will cheat. Tests are multiple choice but extremely hard. Questions are based on the most mundane information and can be very tricky. Scale from one to ten; 3. Do not take this professor.Way to hard for 100 class.

I love karp, he's cool, and a great teacher. He's really nice, though i heard he made someone cry before during a presentation. But from my experience, the class is worth it. A little hard, be prepared and go to the supplemental instruction meetings!

Took this class last year. He expects you to think about the material. Tests are fair but not easy. You really have to go to class and study the notes. He gives you the ppts so you can listen. Will help you if you go see him.

I learned a lot in this class. I am not a science-head but he made the class interesting. I went to all the classes even though he does not take attendance. Does not play favorites. Tests are hard but fair. You have to do the reading to get the most out of the class.

For a freshman class he expected way too much. Doesn't require attendance but that just makes you not want to go. Fed you alot of information and wrote the tests in confusing, irrelevant questions. MUST read the book, and all of it. Tests hard and he's not much help over email.

He wants people to think he is "ornery," (his words!) but in reality he's quite a nice guy. The ISM class is very presentation based, and Karp especially will try to test your understanding of the topic by asking tough questions. Don't copy/paste from the internet or read right from your slides- he wants an explanation in your own words.

My class is an online class. He's not responsive to email and his tone can be condescending. I don't dislike him but he could be more like a teacher and not like a robot - He is 100% to the syllabus and he doesn't interact very much with the online discussions. The class pretty much is self-taught. The class is interesting but not cause if him

I'm science retarded and resistant, so for him to make the class remotely interesting and understandable for me is a good thing. I'm sure if you're good at science, you'll do well. He grades very fairly and doesn't have favorites, and he's a genius. Take the class. You'll learn a lot.

Karp will use an intentionally ambiguous method of examination (the first three exams) to test the class. The exams encourage the ability to analyze and reflect on course material, however, certain exam questions will be completely subjective. He will hold your grade to the exact standards outlined on his syllabus, down to the last printed letter.

Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go to class you will miss out important info. His exams are based on the notes and what he said in class. He gives extra credit opportunities to help boost grade. Overall, he is a fair professor.

Nice guy, and good teacher, doesnt taker attendance at all and his lectures are very boring and def. will put you to sleep especially 8 AM class! one bad thing is that your only grades are from tests (and Extra Credit)and the tests are EXTREMELY hard! they are all MC but with A,B,C,D, AND E as choices for each question! tough to do better then a C

I had this class at 8am and was really bummed about it. Karp made it a lot easier. His lectures are easy to follow and he has like ADD and makes the class really interesting. He is a pretty fun guy. Tests are a little hard, but he is really easy talk to. I would recommend him, but I have heard that he can be a real ass. In class tho he really nice.
