She loves math with everything in her, but learning in her class is hard. You have to do daily reflections/watch videos every night, as the next class is based off them. She is tough grader, so make sure for quizzes/tests you write Everything out, use lots of equal signs between steps. Chapters 8 and 9 are really hard, but you'll get through it.

Dr. Kelm is one of the best professors here at Fresno State, and people who have taken her say shes though but she really isnt. If you know youre material, you will pass. She says she doesnt lecture but she always does in the beginning of the class. The only downside is the daily reflections, but they do help in understanding the material.

She is extremely nice and knows how to teach well. The only bad part is she makes you watch videos and submit reflections, so you'll have to dedicate a lot more time outside of class. Fortunately, she goes over them for half the class and she's always more than happy to help. Some problems on her tests are tricky though. 10/10

she cares but won't give you the grade, don't expect extra credit to help you. She gives you videos to watch and then a reflection to do every day at home, but she will go over it again in class, and if you don't understand the practice problems in class, you can ask for help. She will notice if you go to class or not, it can decide if you pass

Not a very helpful professor. Went to office hours as was instructed and it was tough trying to get a say in with her other higher up students. Absolutely disliked this professor, she did no actual teaching. You have to watch hours of videos a day bc thats her method of teaching. Then a quiz upon finishing up those vids and as in class. skip her

Dr. Kelm did not do a good job with this class at all. over 95% of the lecture material was done from YouTube. Yes, you pay 3 grand in tuition to watch YouTube. She grades way too unfairly on her proofs, and often times marks things incorrect and writes in suggestions that contradict most other professors on campus for proof writing. Waste of time.

For lower division classes, the flipped classroom works well. But for insanely challenging classes like Abstract Algebra, the flipped classroom is an absolute joke. This material requires lectures AND at home learning. Kelm went way too fast through the material at the end. I haven't met a single student that was happy with her this year.

You could never take a day off in any of her classes. It is constant work. You have to watch videos every day of class and answer questions. There is so many things you need to do. Homework is turned in with a group. One of the most stressful classes.

Kelm is great. I was super apprehensive about her teaching method at first, but I grew to really appreciate it. If you're a good student and you're committed to school, this class shouldn't be too hard. Take good notes on the videos, (watch them all thoroughly), and master the homework each week. You'll do fine if you put the work in!

Kelm brings her theater background into teaching and is quite dramatic when she does teach. Must mostly teach yourself material by watching videos/reading textbook. HW is the hardest part of the class and is done in groups. She is a very tough grader and very nitpicky so pay attention to detail on HW/tests! Take HW to office hours for her to revise

She does not actually lecture. She will tell you to watch videos to teach yourself the concepts and then you go into class expected to know the concepts and you do examples. I passed the AP test for this class but I retook it and I still struggled. The homework is also unnecessarily difficult.

Dr. Kelm is very caring of her students and she wants everyone to pass. BUT, she really makes you work for your grade. Weekly free response quizzes, 4 multiple choice midterms, and cumulative final. DO THE HW. It will help you in the end! You'll have to study before tests. It's not an easy class but you'll learn a lot.

If you genuinely want to learn math, take her class, she will make you live and breathe math until you understand it. But if you're like me, and just wants a C and to never touch math again, try another professor.

Ill start off with a positive about this professor: She requires you to know EVERYTHING about what you're doing in order to pass the class, which is extremely useful to know your material thoroughly. A negative: She is EXTREMELY nit picky with her grading and marks off a crazy amount of points for TINY errors or unfavorable explanations in work.

Kelm is all about feedback. I've never seen a professor that spends this much time at clearly telling you what you need to work on. There are daily reflections, and she reads them all for each class. Sometimes it feels tedious, but it's SUCH a good way of determining where your students are at. Commit to this class as she does and you will do well.

She's a good professor. I don't necessarily agree with the class structure (YT videos instead of lectures to learn), but it works and she does go over anything you're having trouble with. Make sure to learn proper mathematical notation, she will dock points on quizzes if you don't use it. Don't be afraid to email her and go to her office hours!

Dr. Kelm is a great professor. She tries her best to get feedback from her students so that she can structure her class based off of where we are struggling. She is willing to help anyone that needs it. Weekly quizzes and online math homework. If you took Calc before you should be fine, but if not, get some help.

I don't get how she has such high reviews. Doesn't lecture and makes you watch long videos in order to "learn" the material, which is difficult for a lot of students since some of them need a lecture in order to be engaged in the course. I ended up switching to a different math professor.

Professor Kelm is great! She definitely cares about her students. The assigned homework is tougher than the exams. There is a quiz every week ( one or two questions from the homework assigned), so be ready for it! Be aware of group homework because it can affect your grade in the class if you don't do well on the homework! Also, do extra credits!

Kelm is pretty helpful on her own and she gives fair exams that test your knowledge of the material. However I really dislike the "group hw" system she has going on, it doesn't work well when she assigns u to a group with people that have absolutely no idea what's going on. I'd take a class with her again, as long as it isn't group based.
