If you want your typical senior sem. class, DO NOT TAKE HER! We did 8 oral presentations, 2 debates, 2 essay quizzes, and 3 papers. Not only is that a ridiculous amount of work, her grading is like you are a science major. She is ridiculously unorganized and just a total nut!

I'm taking this professor right now for Spaceship Earth (senior seminar). The workload for this class is ridiculous. She changes her mind about assignments every 5 minutes, then deducts points when you do exactly what she said. She's pretty nutty so far. I have REAL classes and REAL research to worry about and don't have time for her nonsense.

LOVED THIS CLASS! I had her for intro to geology & this class made me change my major. This class is a lot of work. Don't take it if your are looking for an easy gen ed, you won't get it here. Going to class is mandatory to pass and READ THE BOOK. Reading is never assigned but she pulls a lot of quiz questions from the text.

If your a GEG major take her. If your just getting a gen ed don't. Dr. Bower's class is a lot of work. But everything is explained in detail and there are no surprises. If you go to class everyday you should def be able to pull off an A. Don't take this class if you are prepared to not show up, because you will fail. I actually learned stuff in this class, which I can not say about all of my classes. If you want to learn and put effort in I would suggest taking her for intro to earth science

She is a good professor, and has a good teaching method. If you are looking for a fluffy class to just get credit, don't come here; not only does this class teach geography/geology good, but it helps make freshmen into better students. Takes time, and effort, but was a good class.

Ok I feel bad for Dr. Bower so I have to say something. She is hard yes but not impossible. She is also very helpful. I went to her because I needed help and she walked me through it till I understood. I learned a lot in this class so please stop hating because you didn't do the work.

The class is not very hard. If you are willing to try even a little bit, you can do OK. Dr Bower, on the other hand, is a real trip. She's a little goofy and grades you on your grammer usage. Bitch, this is science. I guess I would avoid this class if I had the chance. If you take it, though, you won't fail unless you're dumb.

This professor doesn't have a clue about geology. A monkey smoking a cigar could teach us more proficiently than her.She tries to do calculus and messes it up and says it is correct.She grades subjectively and holds the record for academic affair cases against her.Unfortunately she teaches a core class, so geology majors watch yourselves.

Really just a bad teacher. Constantly stopping class to call out people whispering. The work load is heavy; I'm not sure how she finds the time to assign and grade so much work. Merciless grader as well; absolutely no leeway. I routinely got better grades in my 3000 level GEO courses.

She gave no extra credit she gave no help at all to me or other students when going to her office she also did not care about her student's grade. I got a 69.7 grade which is a D and i did not miss one day. she told me that there is nothing that she could do to give me a 70.0 grade which is a C. Horrible teacher worst ever.

Do not take her if you don't want to put effort into it. She gives out a lot of work (online quizzes, group work, field trips, etc.) I made the mistake of not putting in any effort and ended up not doing well. You have to attend class and take notes. If slacking is what you want to do, avoid Dr. Bower.

I got an A in the class, but it was by far my hardest class and I think only a few people got A's. You have to do online quizzes every week that you can take over and over again, but they are hard. The tests are around 50 multiple choice questions, but they are on several chapters, you don't know whats on them, and they're HARD. Gotta work hard.

Don't listen to these other rating. I think they forgot that they weren't in high school anymore. She's pretty easy if you just show up to class. You get to retake the quizzes unlimited times till you get a perfect and the tests are easy if you do the quizzes.
