Attend lecture every time as she guides you through the quizzes. If you don't go you lose out on a lot. If you see her during office hours and she sees that you are making the effort(and are improving) you'll get an excellent grade. Start looking for info on the research proposal and let her review your topic ASAP. You'll be ahead of everyone!

Professor Dodd seems very enthusiastic about the subject and enjoys hearing from interested students. She can be easily offended so just be considerate of what you say. She offers the powerpoints online, but always takes atttendance. The honors class isn't really different from the regular so don't be afraid to take it.

If your getting ready to take this class-don't worry. Dodd sets high standards but not to high for a 3000 level. She really knows her stuff and will help you alot - is always there for office hours and makes appts. She is a great prof and seems to love teaching this class.

Awesome professor! Very sweet lady who knows her stuff. Explains everything really well and is passionate about biology. She posts all her powerpoints on WebCT, so it's easy to take really good notes. Test are easy (multiple choice) and as long as you study your notes and read the chapters, it's pretty much an easy A. I highly recommend her.

This class was really really really easy. All the material covered on the tests are in her powerpoint lectures which she posts on WebCT, so you don't really need to read the book at all if you take good notes during class. She also offers plenty of extra credit on her tests.

I did not enjoy this class. Take anyone else that is available. This class was supposed to focus on scientific writing, but there were many irrelevant quizzes. Extremely picky. She SAYS she will help you, but she is never around.

you can print out notes from web ct and you can just write down extra points she makes over notes.she drops 1 of your lowest test grade (not final) 3 test were over 3 chapt. and the other one was only 2. she holds you tillclass is officially over. but she is always is in a good mood. she isn't dangerous like other bio profs, she is good.

Ms.Dodd is one of the best profs I have ever had.For Bio Writing,she is very challenging and strict;however,if you survive the class she will have taught you more than many other profs(not only regarding academics but regarding life).Her assignments built up,so make sure that you understand what she wants early.Challenge yourself,take her class.

Comment:

Biological Writings was a very difficuly couse. Ms. Dodd is a very strict grader. She does her best to teach the course and is very helpful. The research proposal (final exam) was very difficult due to UTPAs limited journal subscriptions.
