Comment:

Very easy class. The lectures were long and boring, but there were no in-class tests which was awesome. Outside of class we would have 3 quizzes due each week online. As long as you keep up with the online quizzes, i don't see how you can get less than an A. There was no final and he adds 60 points to everyones grade at the end of the semester.

Comment:

Dr Wilson is a horrible teacher, his required classes are boring and will put you to sleep, as will the T E D talks. There is a quiz every class, and more for the days in between classes, he says theirs no test, but there's always a large quiz due online every Saturday. The online work can be confusing, and he WILL NOT give you any excuses at all

Comment:

Dr. Wilson is amazing!!! Attendance is mandatory because he does clicker quizzes for every class. Most of the class is "self-taught" so if you have a problem with that then do not take him. There are no test in this class and there is also no final. This class is a very easy A as long as you stay on top of the online work which is not a lot.

Dr. Wilson's class is easy if you go to class and do the assignments online. There are clicker quizzes and attendance grades every day in class and 2 online sections quizzes plus an online chapter quiz every week. But if you just show up you don't have to pay attention to his lectures (which are boring)

Comment:

Great Professor who tries to help everyone. There are no tests, just many, many quizzes. Also, there is no Final. I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook if you can do well with the online version, which you have to buy for the REVEL program, because nobody will buy it back. I would definitely recommend you take this course.

Mr. Wilson requires clickers. A good majority of your grade comes from attendance and in-class clicker quiz points, so show up and take notes. All homework and reading quizzes are online, which are kind of hard and he does not allow make ups. He's very nice, but gets extremely off topic. It is mostly a self taught subject.

This class was all about reading and group work. His quizzes are super easy and if you read and take notes, you'll pass the quizzes. He drops your lowest quiz grade. You basically teach yourself the material and he's just there to make sure you do it. Made a B in the class but he was definitely not helpful. Final is optional if you don't want an A.

Dr. Wilson's lectures are very long, but you do not need to pay attention to do well. He takes attendance every class by using a clicker and at the end of every class there is a 8 question clicker quiz on the lecture, usually very straight forward. There is a quiz due every M,W and Saturday at 3pm, the questions are straight from the book. NO FINAL

His lectures are very long, and you need to take notes on them to do the clicker quizzes at the end of class, but everything else is online and due each time you go to class. Attendance is mandatory, but its not hard to get a good grade in his class. He shows "Ted Talks" that vary from boring to interesting quite each class. Don't buy the book!

Dr. Wilson's class was very boring, I had trouble staying awake during class and I had very little interest in sociology. He has a test due every Sunday at 3pm and if you rush through them last minute you will fail it, also he loves to use clickers questions. Go ahead and buy the textbook or an e text because you will need it for the tests.

If you are a sociology major, take methods from this professor. He uses SPSS, which better prepares you for statistics (3216). Attendance not mandatory, but very helpful. Quizzes are open note, and tests come from the quizzes.

Dr. Wilson's lectures are really long and boring. Every day he shows a TED talk that has little to do with the chapters in the book. He does a test every week due by Sunday at 3. He also does clicker quizzes every class day. If you read the textbook chapters you can get good grades on the tests, plus the tests are open note and open book. Take him.

Really easy course and he is super helpful! The tests weren't too bad and the quizzes that are every week are also open note! The test come half from the quizzes so many sure you come to class and do them!! Overall he is a funny guy !

Worst teacher I have ever had. His notes don't go with his lecturs, and none of it goes along with the text and quizzes. He talks about random stories in his life that no one cares about. The only reason anyone goes to class is for the clicker quizzes, which the class has to show him how to do because he has no idea how to use technology. DONT TAKE

He doesn't teach at all, do not take this class. The TA is absolutely ridiculous and not capable of effectively teaching and more focused on disciplinary actions than teaching.

All of the quizzes are open-note. All the tests are straight from the quizzes. He is a bit vague about alot of things. He is super nice though! His grad teach assistant (Lydia) was extremely knowledgable and helpful!! The 6-10pg paper is the final exam and not too bad.

If you're looking for a good grade, read the book and study it. If you're looking for a good teacher, not your guy. Does not teach. Anecdotal and extremely unclear about information covered on exams. Going to class felt like a waste of time. Lectures are painfully boring. Seems like a tenure-track teacher more concerned with personal research.

Comment:

This guy is ridiculous. Took his class Second Summer Session, and eventually stopped attending except for taking exams. He doesn't teach AT ALL. It's all anecdotal, and you can ace your tests by reading the chapters and watching the videos. Has no attendance policy, but takes attendance daily, and says "your grade will be lowered". Run away!
