Comment:
Best class at USD! The material was very interesting and Dr Hinman is clearly very knowledgeable about the subjects covered and can speak very passionately about them. Don't bother buying the book. I definitely did not attend every class. There are only two tests and five journals for the whole grade, but it was a very easy class. Take him.

Dr. Hinman is so passionate about this course. he is very open minded, never ever makes you feel uncomfortable for any arguments that you feel strongly about. he is so passionate about this course. it is all about sensitive issues and he teaches it very well. exams are nothing unexpected. read the book, and study powerpoints.

Great teacher! Wants us to learn about science and ethics without testing too much. Reading is important and tests can get surprisingly tough, but he gives you a great study guide so finish it early. Attendance and punctuality are important. Just speak a bit in class and he'll think you're the bee's knees. Funny guy and interesting class.

Excellent professor. Knows a lot of doctors and raises interesting points about the US prison system. Watched a few movies and discussed them. Make sure to do the readings for the test, there's a couple random specific questions. Overall pretty easy class though.

Excellent, engaging professor; incredibly knowledgable. Very mellow in the rules department. he just wants you to think, and consider all sides of Social Ethics issues. We had class once a week, and every third week watched a movie. Just do the work and it?s a fairly easy A. You?ll learn a LOT in his class. He's awesome. I definitely recommend.

He was a good teacher with good information, but I thought the class was really boring. He showed really good movies. Don't buy the book. All the relevant readings he has are on his site, so it's honestly pointless. He asks a few random questions on the tests, but the class is pretty easy.

One of the top professors at USD... I would recommend Hinman to anyone. Extremely intelligent, clear, helpful, and accepting of opinions. Most of the class was discussion based and he loved when people shared their opinions. Almost everything Hinman said blew my mind, and I found myself thinking about this class all the time. Take him if you can.

Hinman is probably one of the best teachers I've had at USD. He clearly explains everything that he teaches, and is also very open-minded to opinions of the students in class. He's a very fair grader and truly wants his students to do well. I looked forward to class every day.

Everyone needs to take Hinman! The powerpoints are based off the book that he wrote. as long as you go to class no need to read the book. Study the powerpoints for the tests and you will do fine. Journals are easy and only midterm and final. Easy class to get a B in takes a little work for an A
