Comment:
She is a fine professor, eccentric at times; However, the course can get dull if you're not interested. Every class there is a one-page paper on a poem from a section of the textbook and talk about your thoughts, literary devices, structure etc. Simple. Her grading system is check plus A+, check minus needs improvement or check adequate.

I never got effective feedback from her. From the very beginning of the class I do believe she decided she didn't like my writing style. I'd submitted 3 pages worth of in-depth analysis with only critique, no praise whatsoever. I never quite felt like I understood what she wanted from me. Very disappointing as someone with an English concentration.

Creative writing isnt so creative with this professor. She likes a certain type of writing and wont take anything less then what she wants. Also very rude with her critiques.

Really rude with her feedback. Makes the class really hard to do well in. Even if you are producing quality work she will still give you a C-. Don't take this class.

Doesn't accept late work, no feedback unless you did AMAZING, which is unhelpful for those that aren't doing A+ work and actually need feedback. Doesn't seem to care about her students.

I'm not entirely sure why she's got such a poor score on here. She is a pleasant woman, though perhaps a bit difficult to understand due to her German accent. Sometimes explaining things seems a little difficult for her, though. If you enjoy creative writing and make sure you actually revise your pieces for your portfolios, you will do just fine.

When Professor Hildebrandt asked us on the first day of class if we knew how to write a thesis statement I knew this class was going to be a joke/useless. She plays favorites and even if you are a strong writer she won't let you test out. Overall, not a good professor. However, the material is quite interesting and no class during conferences.

I'm sorry but I did not like this teacher AT ALL. She is very confusing, disorganized, and changes her assignments around alot. One class she even started teaching us the difference between "basketball" and "basket & ball". I'm sorry but I learned that stuff in Jr. High.

She was helpful but I found that she was not very clear. I thought she was a very tough grader and discriminated against your writing if she didn't like your view (or at least that was my opinion). She however was nice about late papers. Over all review, just your average teacher.

I've always hated english. This course requires a lot of reading but she spreads things out well and makes it easier. We read The Climb and Into Thin Air (I'm not a reader) but they were interesting. She's lenient when it comes to assignments and very helpful. I'm glad I had her.

Best German English teacher I've ever had. Most of the American English teachers I've had weren't as good as her. I guess it takes a German to really teach English well.
