Ode sensei is the best prof I've ever seen in the last 2 years, she's super kind and always caring about students in her class. Overall, she's an excellent prof, guys if u have any chance to take her section, take that spot as soon as possible!

Comment:

She's super nice and teaches the material really well. She also makes you study the material in your free time because she gives out pop quizzes (which is a good strategy in my opinion). She's also really helpful and if you can't make her office hours, she's flexible with scheduling another time so you can meet her. Would definitely recommend her!

She's picky about penmanship and kanji but otherwise I enjoy how she structures her lessons and tests. Once you understand her system you can do well. Very nice teacher and very approachable!

Comment:

She is the best Japanese teacher I had so far. Very engaging and enthusiastic. Her explanation is crystal clear. Although she is harsh on petty mistakes, pretty fair on grading. RECOMMENDED!!!

Comment:

Ode sensei is really helpful, nice and energetic. She offers clear and detailed answers to questions you have thought about. you can definitely learn a lot. She encourages us and appreciate our hard work. But a really hard marker being picky on kanji writing and always deducting full marks if you make a little mistakes( no 0.5 mark deduction)!

really nice and fun prof, she's always cheerful and energetic. just showing up to class and participating, you'd barely have to study at all (except for memorizing characters).

She was a good sensei but very tough marker. Doesn't give half marks and deducts a full mark from little mistakes. Also very picky with kanji. Very helpful during office hours! She is very good at teaching but make sure you study every day. I enjoyed this course but my GPA did not. All the little mistakes and pop quizzes do add up!

really nice and easy-going in class but a very hard marker. if you make one little mistake she takes off one whole mark, instead of maybe just half points. when questions are worth only 2 or 3 marks, little things can add up to a lot. be careful and make sure you are good at memorization if you're taking the summer course.

If you take her course, either get a good grade or fail it. One of the stupiest way of marking the exams ever seen. But she is a nice person. But still not a good prof. And seems positive but in fact not really positive. Take hers if you are really good at all Jap. Otherwise go for Nakata's class.

Ode sensei is a middle-aged Japanese woman who is clear about her expectations from the students. She would use her own items to initiate new grammar points like dolls and pictures. A very cute sensei who is helpful and cheerful everyday!

This review is for Winter 2010 Term 1. And, she is back on Winter 2011:D I wouldn't say her class is the easiest, but definitely one of the best lecturer! She made the course materials easy to understand. Most important of all, she made me even more interested into Jap! I must say she does expect a lot from you, so be prepared to work hard!

Overall, she is a great sensei. Helpful, clear and sometimes funny. Someone in my section even made a card for her before she left for Japan. Everyone wrote something grateful, thankful, or caring on it. I was told that she was really touched when she received the card. No worries. She'll be back soon =)

Very nice sensei ^^ Ode sensei makes the course material clear and easy to understand :) And she's got a cute character XD Too bad she's not teaching next term T_T...
