Comment:

I had a couple problems. First, I accidently forgot to attach my work cited page (there was only one item, and it was a story in a book she told us we could write on) and she docked 50% of my grade, which I felt was way too harsh. The second is that she is extremely vague about her expectations the handouts for papers, midterm, and course project.

I have done great in other writing classes and i found her to be completely no help at all. I was confused on an assignment asked her a question about it in class, she refused to help me so i didnt get it done. She confronted me in front of the entire class and recommended i drop because i am not going to pass, SHES MEAN and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Comment:

She is a very strict, but fair grader. Only half of the people in my class were left by the end of the term, the rest dropped it because it is a very tough course. Make appointments with her and it will help you learn and get a better grade. I got a B in the course and usually get A's in writing classes.

As long as you show up on time, do your work, and participate in class you will do fine. She is a tough grader but is always willing to meet with students to discuss papers and offers a lot of really helpful constructive criticism. One of the better instructors I've had at Chemeketa!

Comment:

She is a tough grader, but you will actually learn and improve if you take her classes. She gives critical feedback, both positive and negative, and was willing to accept any analysis that was well supported, regardless of her personal opinion. She is willing to meet with students outside of class to help them improve. She was wonderful.

I considered myself an excellent writer and passed AP and Honors English classes with flying colors, this class on the other hand… If you, as a writer, want any creative license, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She will purposefully cross out your perfectly fine words and replace them with her own. Her PAGES of negative feed back is less than helpful.

She was not a nice or helpful teacher. I have done very well in all my other college writing courses but hers not at all. Also, if she doesn't like you the whole class knows it too. She is rude and I do not recommend her at all.

Favorite teacher so far! I wish all of my professors were as concise and organized as her. Doctorate holders don't necessarily translate into good educators, but she has truly mastered her craft.

Very difficult teacher grades way harder than wr 121 is. The topic that she tought was very difficult to write on and didnt teach much about writing. Wouldnt recomend her!

VERY thorough and passionate teacher. Interesting lectures, and she obviously cares about the topic and her students. She may be a bit blunt, but in a good way. It's not an easy A, but if you do the readings and have something to say in class, she'll love you. 9/10 would definitely take it again.

She is any okay teacher. She knows a lot and she is an interesting teacher. She grades hard though. She isn't an easy A teacher. You have to do your work and do a good job on it. She's willing to help you which is nice.

Marjorie is an extremely knowledgeable and thorough teacher. She might come off as blunt and short but she is not their to baby you and she won't.I took her 3 times and each time I did well in her class. If you do the work you will get the grade you deserve. People who complain shouldn't, your getting what you pay for with Marjorie and then some!

I have seen her on a lot of occasions look at students in demeaning ways when they are trying to explain something. I asked for help once and she was incredibly condescending. Her assignments give directions but you have to weed through the BS to find them. Also she grades unfairly. Majorly disappointing.

Her assignments are vague, she gives a lot of information, none is very useful. She does not like to give out "A's". No one is getting higher than a B. Most people in the class will be luck to get a "C".
