Prof. Painter is a great guy. He makes the lectures interesting but can drag often. The only thing that was very hard was each exam. He would give the questions before hand but I felt like he graded your answers based on how he would answer it. Very knowledgeable man but sometimes forgets we are Intro students for PHL100 class. I would take again.

I'm not a fan of philosophy classes but he made class enjoyable and I found his lectures very helpful when it came to tests. Very little homework and he gives the essays that will be on the test before you take it so you can study them. Would definitely recommend to take for intro to philosophy.

Some homework but most tests were essays--Based on how long you could ramble on about phl. Use plenty of examples and you will get an A. His lectures are important to understanding what is going on, so I don't recommend skipping.

I took Dr. Painter for PHL100 my freshman year and it was very challenging. Professor Painter is a really nice and caring guy and really loves what he teaches however, the material is hard to understand and he doesn't explain it really well. The tests and quizzes are hard and you must read in order to get what is going on. Other than that, he is ok

Everything you do will be in essay form! Pay attention in class and make sure to look over the pages he assigns in the textbook. Generally an easy class as long as you pay attention

Painter is a good professor to take. His tests are mostly essay but he gives you the questions prior to it. He explains everything very well and makes sure you understand it. You do have to study a bit and do some homework but I'd say he's the best professor at the school for Philosophy.

Good professor and educator; does his best to try to make an 8:00 morning class interesting in order to keep everyone awake. A few handy tips: Do the homework, read the book, do not look at the clock, and, most importantly, ask questions!!!

I had a delightful experience with his introduction to philosophy. The class was extremely friendly his critical thinking exercises really expanded my thoughts on controversial topics. Also, the tests were easily studied for due to his systematic teaching style. However, this class would not fit someone who has trouble writing, (essay style exams).

Great professor, brings light to a complicated class. I had him for a night class, two and a half hours of his lectures were tough to stay awake for, but he is very helpful and quizzes and exams are never too difficult.

Great guy, interesting and intelligent. Hand writing is a little sloppy, but who cares. Always tries to help you get the best possible grade. Homework is mandatory, but for good reason, the class was hard! But he always helped you feel prepared for the tests. Overall great knowledgable teacher.
