Comment:

I had no interest in British Literature prior to this class, and his hilarious and dynamic character made it totally worth it. He only taught this class this semester and will not be teaching in higher education for the foreseeable future so that is a shame. He is an excellent English prof to take if and when he comes back!

He is a good guy, and he makes the class as interesting as it can be for a seminar class. Like the last post said, everything was graded pretty fairly, except the 5 page paper which was basically a murder of everyone's grade.

Interesting teacher, he knows what he is talking about. He makes everything in class interesting. The only downside is that during the class all the work was graded fairly easy until the 30% paper which he graded very tough.

Great teacher. I guess he switches the theme of his class around, but for ours I liked his book selection. He picks books that he sometimes doesn't like. That says a lot about him, he focuses on understanding and critiquing literature, and wants you to do so properly as well. He tells a lot of jokes and had us over for dinner, no final. Take him.

I'd be thoroughly surprised if I ever have a teacher as good as Sibley-Jones. Hugely intelligent, but immensely personable. I'd recommend his class to anyone, so long as you can read about one book a week and manage to get in.

Dr. Sibley-Jones was my favorite professor of the semester, and his class was the most enjoyable. Before this class, I did not really enjoy analyzing books, but my opinion had changed by the end. Dr. Sibley-Jones always made an effort to help me and anyone in the class.

Sibley is funny, charming and fun -- and you still learn a lot. If you have no sense of humor, don't bother. But if you are up for a good laugh and learning some new interesting stuff i'd definitely suggest taking any class of his you can get into. Oh, he's just the best.

Sibley-Jones is quite possibly the best instructor I have had at any institution. One of the most intelligent people you will ever meet that is still capable of effectively relating and communicating interpersonally (not so smart that he is socially retarded). Whether you love or hate lit., S-J can hold your attention quite effectively.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. As long as you try you'll do fine. He is funny and helpful. His lectures are always interesting even if the material is not. If you have to take this class then hope that he's the one teaching it. He makes those long reading assignments feel like nothing.
