Comment:

Dr. Zeigler was not the most effective choral director. In chamber choir we sang material simpler than I did in high school. He was disorganized and unclear and in general, unstable. He is a good man in character but he struggles with being receptive to criticism and understanding student perspectives, particularly regarding sensitive matters.

Comment:

In conducting class he read out of a packet, something I easily could have done on my own time. He has also pushed all of his choir responsibilities, save for his beloved Chamber Choir, on to grad assistants. Thank goodness he has too, because I am much happier not being around him and the shame he is bringing upon the other GREAT teachers at Naz.

Wow are we talking about Mark Zeigler at Nazareth College of ROCHESTER? I loved him, very dedicated, picked wonderful music, got a great result in chamber choir. And yes, people in concert choir suck...get over it. Also wonderful conducting professor. Extremely helpful and actually suggested a job for me that I got thanks to his recommendation.

I don't know why so many people have a problem with Dr. Zeigler! Yes, he can be tough, but, as music majors, I don't think it's too much to ask that you practice your music, attend rehearsal and DON'T TALK during class! He knows his stuff and if you talk to him after class, you will find out that he is a great guy! So if you don't like him, drop

Dr Zeigler brings shame & unprofessionalism to the MUS DEPT. He is egotistical & treats his students as indentured servents who owe him for everything he does. If I had a nickle for everytime I've heard "I remember when..." or "My son David..." I would have paid for college already. He lies & cheats students out of a good education!

the man is good at what he does, however, he gets extremely hotheaded and when he does, is extremely unprofessional in regards to students. I've seen him scream, talk about students when they are not in the room, etc. on at least 3 occasions. That is simply unacceptable and completely unnecessary

There is a devil inside of Mark Zeigler, dressed in professor's clothing. He brings shame to the musician's PhD (thank God for Roth, Wiens, McGary & Carlson). The choir is suffering under his egoism.
