I'm not sure why Marv has such a low rating on here. He's probably one of the best professors I've ever had, albeit difficult. But thats why he was so great; he wasn't difficult because he was a terrible professor, he was difficult because he challenged us to succeed in the classroom and work to achieve a high grade.

It is true that the grade on the first paper is what you see the rest of the semester. Also, he doesn't seem very interested in students if you ask something or have a question. Other than that, he's okay- I'd say a fairly average grader, defintely not easy. The class I took was okay.

He does know alot, and the class I took was okay. I didn't dislike it one way or the other. He does seem remote to students though, and it is very true that the grade you get on first test/ paper is the grade you'll be getting the rest of the semester. Fairly hard grader. Overall, okay.

Good Paideia prof,definitely--put more emphasis on the historical side of our material as opposed to the literary part. Always seemed preoccupied when I asked for help, as if he had more important things to do--little annoying.
