Comment:

Great lecturer and knows what she's talking about. She get's the class involved which is nice to see in University. Very interesting class and would definitely take another class with her again. If you don't show up for class you will soon fall behind (very in-depth learning in class)

Great Professor! She is very caring and understanding, and makes every lecture interesting. There are many assignments but they are fairly easy as long as you read the material.

Comment:

Not a good professor, but perhaps a good actress. She gives little-to-no instruction, and often goes on ridiculous tangents that include her dancing around the classroom while students cannot understand her rambling. With her poor instruction she also gives poor marks, because students do not understand what she is looking for.

I can't believe I paid for this experience. This class is the worst I've ever taken and I learned absolutely nothing. Hale's readings and syllabus are very unorganized. The lectures are all over the place. Hale takes forever to mark and is usually late for class. Quizzes made no sense. Email responses are passive aggressive. (& I did well!)

Second time taking class with Mary Hale, Took Love and Death with her. She makes the work very interesting. Only one quiz and a final group project, she makes the classes fun. Go to class and do the work, easy A

The most useless and the most pathetic course ever. Totally pointless you won't learn a thing from it. very tough grader. Super unorganized, changed the syllabus twice. you won't even know what you did wrong and she will literally cut marks from everything.

Dr. Hale is a very nice lady, however, her lectures are pointless. They do not help whatsoever for in-class assignments, papers or projects. Attendance AND participation is mandatory, or she will defitnely dock off points. Is open to help students but if you hate presentations and group work, avoid her classes.

Took her Love class. The class was amazing, Mary was so funny, was very interested in what she was teaching and was very clear and good at explaining. Readings are mandatory for the midterm and discussion. No exam just a final project.

love mary, she so nice and pretty easy lots of readings but if your on top of it, you'll do fine. put an hour away and your good. her quizzes are in class but super easy and open book. project is easy if you put and dedicate time to it. she's pretty flexible and marking was very fair. take her for love and death. death is very interesting than love

Quite a bit of reading, some reflection papers on selected readings. Be honest, even if you have struggled with a concept she really appreciates that! Two major assignments (a group presentation/paper and a final assignment) & a take-home midterm. Suggestion, be active, make certain she knows who you are (for good! reasons) and you will be rewarded

She's really nice and understanding as well as hilarious. The class is easy and the only project you have to do is a panel (short presentation+paper) on the topic being covered in class whatever week you do your panel.

You know that hilarious older lady you wish was your mom, but you'd probably be embarrassed about if she were? That's Dr. Hale (but you can call her Mary). She's pretty awesome. Do the readings, prep your answers to the essay questions before taking the online quiz, and put effort into your presentation (don't make it boring); you'll do great.

Lectures are pointless and don't discuss anything that will be on the test but you need to go because if you miss 3 classes you drop by a letter grade. Quizzes are ok if you do the readings but there is A LOT of readings so you probably won't do them. Overall a pointless and annoying course. But pretty easy.

Comment:

Mary Hale was awesome, the class wasn't hard, she made her points and you learned the content with minimal work. No exams just an online quiz for each unit and a small paper and easy presentation. Gives you the quiz essay question beforehand so do it before the quiz, only real work needed. Very understanding, she'll always accommodate you.

For an elective, the class was somewhat frustrating. Lots of reading involved, and the quizzes often had strange or obscure questions. Sometimes, specific instructions were not given, so you may have done something wrong and not know it. Course was decent enough but definitely had its flaws.
