Comment:

Mic wants to be a Philosophy teacher. Not a Writing teacher. While she is a fantastic old woman who is bound to connect with you on an emotional level, she is terrible with grading and feedback. I could never read her penmanship (despite me knowing cursive very well) and she relies on students to keep track of their graded papers. Don't recommend.

Mic is the most amazing writing teacher Ive ever had. Be prepared, she does not give writing prompts you just get to write anything that you though about when reading the book she assigned. Its great though she is huge on free thought and being creative. Very encouraging if you love to write.

Comment:

Expect to listen to irrelevant rants and lectures on her personal life and opinions on society. She is lively, and shows passion in her life, but you will not improve on any skills in her class. Expect writing 9 papers with harsh/fair grading. Attendance is mandatory, so you cannot skip the endless irrelevant lectures. Great person, bad teacher.

Mic isn't a bad professor, but she loves to talk about herself, and you'll learn nothing about writing. You'll have to read an anti-religion philosophy book, a story theory book, & a self-help book. Mic cares about her students & is a fair grader/reasonable about subjects. However, MLA must be perfect. Expect 9 papers, group projects, & homework.

One of the best English teachers I have ever had. She cares a lot about her students. She is beyond funny too. Assigns 8 written papers due on different dates. One presentation. No quizzes or tests. Show up as much as you can.

While I can say I completed the assignments with ease and ended up with an A, my concern with this course is for those who either dislike or have challenges writing. There was not much information pertaining to the assignments covered during lectures. The topics discussed in class were interesting, but usually irrelevant. Mic is friendly though.

Makes you do 8 essays throughout the semester but is very confusing never gets back to you and literally all she does is talk during class if i could've dropped earlier I would've she was such a headache and I definitely recommend not taking her!!!!

I can understand why many students would like her- she is talkative and outgoing, has a lot to share with people, and is truly "passionate" about teaching. However, she spends most of class time talking about herself, her opinions and her own experiences. Not much talk about the actual objective of the class. Scatterbrained and unable to lead.

I took her WRT101 class last fall (2015) and I'm glad I did. Yes, writing nine essays can seem daunting at first, but this is college, we all knew this wasn't going to be easy. Also, you get to pick what to write about as long as it ties into the book, so how can you fail? She talks about her personal life a lot but her stories were interesting

If you can handle writing 9+ essays in a semester then this class is for you. As long as you read your books that are assigned and turn in the essays you'll get an A. Her projects are super easy & she lets the class decide on when each assignment is due at the beginning of the semester. Since there was heavy workload she got me ready for WRT102

If you think that you'll be learning something in this class, think again. The class time is spent on the teacher giving us feedback on her own personal life. You'll have 9 essays on 3 books and the only instructions is "write what you think". It's honestly a waste of money and time. And your MLA better be spotless because she wont grade your paper

I got a B in this class, if you like to read a write you will do fine but it is a Lot of work... not easy. make sure to have a lot of time for this class. But the things she talks about is totally 100% interesting.

She is awesome. She outlines the entire class on the first day, so DON'T miss it. Come to class, and do the work and it's an easy A. She is not a multiple choice type teacher, you MUST have an abstract thought.

Mic is very funny! I didn't buy the books needed, Cliff notes was enough. You have to write a few papers and do a presentation but you choose the topic. She only allows you to miss a few classes, and is an easy grader if you put in the work. For example: I got a B due to missing work but most of my papers were 'A' papers so she gave me the A.
