I've taken 3 classes with him, and enjoyed all of them. Not a lot of people like history, if that is you, don't take him cause it'll be a snooze fest. He is very organized and clear of what he expects from students. Simply do all the papers on time (send in rough drafts also) and study the exam reviews and you can easily get a B. Funny guy!

Dr. Flores is a great instructor and really prepares you for upper division classes. If English is not your strength, consider taking someone else, or take him and improve your writing skills. He knows a lot about history and geeks out whenever possible. A very well rounded professor and has a great sense of humor. Very transparent on Exams and HW.

Flores is awesome! Had some good laughs in his class, too bad I'm not a history major, although I have much interest in it. He can go on and on about history cause he is truly passionate about it! Turn in rough drafts of your assigned reading papers and do the reviews and you will definitely get at least a B in his class.

A great prof. however, I believe English 100 should be a pre-req for this course. Flores is very tidy about grammar, but if you read the material, have a pulse and can respond, you will EASILY pass. I sent drafts to him a day before each paper was due, and always got full credit after his feedback (he even corrects it). Exams are the reviews itself

Professor Flores does make you work for your grade. However, I learned so much from him about writing essays that I was able to earn better grades in the rest of my classes. He is also very reasonable. I called him out on something I thought was unfair and he reversed course and changed my grade. In addition, he gives extra credit for a field trip.

I have to completely agree with everyone who says DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! If you care at all about your GPA, you won't do it! He treats it like an English class and grades on how the papers are written, rather than your understanding of the material. I dropped him after he gave me a D on a paper for font size. Extremely full of himself too.

Michael has a tendency to be very moody. If you ask him lots of questions and turn in drafts, you'll probably pass. If you are not an English major you should not take his class. He's less interested in having his students succeed than in maintaining his ego. I haven't figured out his grading system yet.

Weekly two page paper (double spaced) so it turns out to be one, we watch videos, and have discussions. SUPER easy to pass, literally just do the papers from the readings, and the midterm/final is LITERALLY given to you before the test a week or so before, all he does is combine some questions. He does not tolerate slackers or bad grammar.

Is indeed a tough grader on papers and grammar, but gives the option of rough drafts which should be mandatory imo. Hilarious and he is always on time. A great professor!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This teacher acts like this is an english class and he has a terribly condescending attitude towards students. Tons of essays about pointless topics. He takes his class way to seriously and teaches as if we are all history majors. Worst class I've ever taken PERIOD. Please find another professor and save yourself the headache.

Michael is an awesome professor! Really knows the material well, and you are graded on few things. He grades the bi-weekly 2 pg paper on grammar, but that allows is pretty much open response just like his exams. You simply have to prove you learned something, and can reflect on the themes introduced during class. Pretests are similar to exams.

Great professor, I honestly enjoyed every class, but that might be cause I'm into history. The professor does his best to make the class interesting! 2 Exams (reviews are 90% similar) and a biweekly paper which is only two pages. I have learned a lot through Flores, very inspiring!

Do whatever you can to avoid Flores. He obsesses over grammar in essays but is horrible at communicating his expectations on assignments. If you're a Cal State student trying to do this as a summer course, do yourself a favor and just take it as an extra course at your University. He treats his GE summer course like it were a graduate level course.

Like many people have already stated so many papers. It is simple busy work. English is not the professor's first language. He does not know how to communicate with the students. His replies are very condescending. He is aware of how unnecessarily difficult his class is and even states it in his syllabus. DON'T TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!

If you're gonna write a paper, especially in college, expect to be able to have proper grammar or develop it. Flores is heavily criticized to drop points on proper grammar, once you are able to get proper with MLA formatting and citing, his class was a BREEZE. Serio, 2 tests, & reviews are 98% similar. If you have bad grammar, take another prof.

Great professor! English 100 should be a pre-req, he grades on concepts and grammar. A lot of students dropped as they got bored, as the class is indeed a history class in which people got lazy. Flores has always been helpful and even read rough drafts, find out what he wants and you'll easily pass with a 'B'! Learned a lot from his class!
