This guy knows his stuff. He is really interesting and even though he is a tough grader, I would say his 316 class is one of the best in the department. Here is the secret to doing well in the class, know 50% of the information extreme well and its possible for you to get and A. Lots of reading though. Be prepared to answer questions in class.

Worst professor I've had so far. No curve and the test averages came out to be 50 to 60 range. Sometimes goes off topic and generally confusing person to understand. Has a short temper too and will not care how well you do. Good if your looking for a challenge because the tests are tricky but not impossible.

YOU MUST DO THE READINGS and review them before the exams. Only two exams and an optional final. do the readings and remember important facts and literally regurgitate his facts onto your essays. got a B barely went to class. have to be dedicated to the reading otherwise you will fail. not that hard but have to do work. very nice man

If you like economics: Easy A. Show up to EVERY class and write down all the important parts he talks about. You will not need a textbook if you do this. Any questions, just ask. He'll never tell you you're wrong for any opinion you have. Only problem is theres some ambiguity with test questions, but if you ask the TA, he'll help out a lot.

The hardest class ever taken before. If you are not good at English or international student, I strongly recommend you to drop the course as soon as possible. Honestly saying, his lecture is not bad, but the way how he grades exam is seriously harsh. He doesn't consider the contents much. Never expect partial credits.

If you're looking for an economics class that requires about as much reading as an English class, then by all means take this class. Otherwise, don't take Zweig. AVOID unless you're willing to make an effort--at least either do the readings or go to class. Both is preferable. His lectures are long, boring, and solely based on his opinions.

DO NOT consider taking his class. please. the poor reviews of him are accurate. he is condescending, inarticulate, obstinate. che 131 was easier than this. his exams are MUCH harder than he makes lectures and theres no way to study for them (he himself said the textbook was useless). not even helpful at office hours

Professor Zweig is one of the worse professors I have ever had at Stony Brook University. His tests are not easy and some of the questions on his exams are confusing. Also, he does not allow calculators on any of the exams. I wish he would keep his political views out of lectures. Overall, not a good professor. I would not take him again.

Zweig is truly a horrendous professor. His lectures are unclear and disorganized, and he fails to keep his political ideologies out of the discussion. He does not seem to have mastery of the material, and ultimately he's just a very bad professor.

4 exams (plus one optional) which are impossible. there are formulas we need to pass exams that he doesnt explain OR write down properly. no curve even though avg was a 63 and this is an intro class. rambles about random stories in class. will say that whats in the textbook is wrong but blames our failing on not reading the textbook enough.

Extremely unqualified to be a professor. He has an incredibly lazy style of teaching--he scribbles some nonsense on the board with no sense of structure or organization. Avoid his class.

When I signed up for this class, I thought the ratings were exaggerated. I didn't think it could be that bad. I was wrong. He even states he doesn't want to see other opinions in exams. He wants to read about "facts", which are in any one of five or so books, about half of which he authored or contributed to. But discussions are interesting.

Don't take Zweig. Don't think, eh, he can't be that bad, people are exaggerating. He is horrendous. He wants nothing more than his opinions regurgitated to him on the exams and if you so much as stray from his view, you are going to fail. It's a struggle to get just the C for credit, let alone higher grades. Please don't take these classes.

Exams are fair, but you should study hard. Do yourself a favour and attend his class, it´s really interesting. Books are recommended, but you can pass the exams just by attending the course and by taking lots of notes! (for getting a better grade, you should do the extra credits stuff and the book readings)
