This class is horrible i've never had a probelm with history and in the class i have no idea what is going on . His lecture notes make no sense , he never finishes what it is were even talking about hes always going off on some thought he has and trys to make jokes of subjects and you cant tell if hes joking or actually telling you real info.

Homel is by far THE WORST professor I've had in my entire school career. I learned absolutely nothing in his class and the notes he makes you take and then get tested on are on his opinions on the subject that he TRYS to teach. Your grade is based solely on the 3 tests he gives, and are likely to fail; even when you study for hours.

by far the WORST teacher that I have encountered at EMU over the past 5 years. I have never had a teacher so unwilling to help and yet can put you down so easily. He puts two correct answers on his exams and you are suppose to know which one is more right than the other.. which doesn't make sense. Impossible to get a good grade in this class.

This man is HORRIBLE. The grade average for the class 23%. He lectures the entire hour. I love history and he's making me hate my own Major. He's also unwilling to help you. Breaks off his sentences and doesn't finish a thought. DON'T TAKE HIM. I regret it...

My History Masters is from EMU. Dr. Homel has a need to punish with changing the syllabus and expections at the end of the course. Unethical and a really poor role model for a school that says "Education First"

NEVER TAKE THIS TEACHER. He is horrible when I went to his office asking for help because his tests were so hard he was so rude he made me cry. He pretty much told me to get smarter. He wastes half of the class taking attendance and listening to music, and he never finished a lecture. I wish he would be fired.

I was a post graduate student teaching in a nearby K-12 District back in 1987. I took the class with a healthy approach to make me more scholarly in my teaching. I found the deception on what should be the basis for the final exam unethical since the class was told a different rubric than was required. Bad lesson for a teaching university like EMU.

He opened class with music from the time period of our course's era. The cool factor ended there. The man cannot control his discussions. His lecturing is average at best. His board-work is abysmal. His grading is severe. He expects students to sift through the readings and pick out the pertinent facts. His silly tests reflect this.

He is one of the hardest professors I have had in college. 15 people in my class dropped becauase of his difficulty. He has good notes, but there is too much information on the tests and that he covers. If you like reading about history you would like this class, but there is a lot involved with a ton of studying.

I have never had such a horrible professor in my life. He does not care about the students at all. He announced to my class that he is sick of students coming to his office complaining they are doing poorly on the test. His only solution was drop the class, and more than half of the students did. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Professor Homel is awful. He is not hard, instead he is lazy. Rather than evaluating you for your analysis, he evaluates you on the basis of how much of the assigned readings you successfully memorized. He will explain this to you, and you will not believe him. However, you will be mistaken in your disbelief. Do not waste your time with this guy.

Very into his lectures but thats about all he has to offer. Tests cover facts that nobody cares about and he repeats the same joke about 6 or 7 times per class period not to mention blares awful jazz music at 8 in the morning. Couldnt stand him

Professor was great! Class covered alot of material, but it was all explained well. I hated history before this class, but he really got me interested. Professor expects alot out of his students, but hey, this is college. That's how it's supposed to be. I highly recommend taking a class from Professor Homel. It is well worth your time.

Jesus! Horrible. Poor teacher, class was behind from day one. Lectures were limited but tests were not. Graded way too hard. If you get him for a class and he has essay tests, drop it. Your best work will not even get you a B.
