Dr. Boakes has immense experience and truly cares about preparing her students for what they may face as teachers. While there was a lot of what felt like busy work required for her class, I do feel that most of it helped give us experience with challenges we may face as teachers, as well as prepare us for the edtpa. Take her class, she is great!

While Boakes attempts to encourage her education students by telling them that teaching is a practice that requires endless development, she grades her students as if they have been teaching for 10 years. On the first day of class she tells people about how she got her doctorate while working full time with two young children at home. Comparable?

Prof. Boakes seems like she has too many things going on in her life, and we as students are the last thing that she has time for. Make sure you read EVERYTHING on the directions and double check yourself- the grading scale is awful because every point comes off your final grade. I would rather focus on content then my grades, but alas this is it.

She's really friendly. Judging by the number of mistakes she made, she doesn't know math at all. Her origami is pretty good. Overall this should be an arts and crafts class at the YMCA, not a college level class (unless the math is stepped up). It's more of a GAH than a GNM now. Oh, she missed a lot of class for conferences and it was only MW.
