Honestly my favorite professor I had at W&J. If you do your readings, come to class, and add a bit to discussion youll be set. He is very strick regarding rules, but one can easily tell how much he cares about the success of his students. Also exam scores do not have much weight, and he always provides ways to make back lost points.

Dr. Caffrey is a splendid professor, whose lectures are engaging, grading criteria is specific, and doesn't leave much for interpretation regarding his expectations for you in the class. Having attended Seton Hall, Yale, and Georgetown, Dr. Caffrey posses a strong writing background and has the ability to offer high-level criticism, when asked.

I took 3 classes with Caffrey, one of them being an independent study. A quality teacher that makes you work for your grade, but the information you retain in his classes is so much more than any other class i've taken.

I took this prof as a throwaway class, because I was interested in the subject. Best professor I've ever had. You have to work for your grade, but he gives extra credit. Tough grader but he tells you why and how to improve. Very, very smart, and unafraid to tell you when he doesn't know. I'm minoring because of how many of his classes I've taken.

Great teacher. As long as you do the reading and take decent notes you'll have no problems. He will make you participate and is a little flamboyant at times.

I liked the class but he is a bad professor. Gives "preparation exams" almost every class and has a strict attendance policy. "I don't care if your grandmother dies, I expect you to be here" is rude and ridiculous. Also, he constantly finds ways to work his political and religious views into class and shove them down students throats. Tough grader.

He is a great guy. Loves his job and loves his students. He is very engaging and interested in his subject. 151 is annoying and boring at at times. Be prepared for what he calls "Preparation Exams." They will mess your world up if you are not prepared and don't do the readings. Also be sure to take notes and know the readings. Participation is key

I think his Asian heritage class is very interesting. Also, he is genuinely concerned about his students and is always willing to help with any questions about assignments or help with school matters. As for classes, he demands top-notch work and has high standards, so taking his classes will definitely help you in the long run to better your skill

He is a horrible teacher. He has some of the hardest and longest assignments available at the school. He actually tells students that they are going to fail his class. A definite DO NOT TAKE.

I have had Dr. Caffrey for ancient china and buddhism; he is an awesome teacher, he presents the info in a way that makes it interesting, he makes his class challenging but he makes it easy to learn and understand; he is always there to help. Very energetic teacher, definietly not monotone or boring. I would definitely would recommend Dr. Caffrey

Not the best teacher to have for freshman forum, compared to others he takes it much to seriously and grades too difficult on class participation. Overall though he is very nice and a fun teacher, Im sure any other class of his would be great to take, but avoid his freshman forum, there are plenty of teachers out there whose classes are much easie
