Good: Paul doesn't force you to participate in class by calling on you. He also makes William Faulkner a fun author to read. He is also very understanding of you turning assignments in late, so long as you explain the situation to him via email. Bad: Can be quite opinionated at times, especially when you first go into the class. He takes attendance

Professor Jones is really cool, he's nice and interesting and provides engaging discussions about the books. There are only three small papers that you have to write during the semester, however he is a pretty tough grader.

Dr. Jones is obviously well read in his subject, but I dont think it does him credit due to discussions and comments on papers becoming skewed with personal opinions rather than accounting for differences in interpretation. Youll still receive a good grade if he thinks your assignments are well-written.

Great professor, really learned a lot and enjoyed his class. Be prepared to read and attend class regularly and you will pass easily. Gives you the questions for quizzes and allows you to use notes on the quizzes of the questions.

I had zero interest in American Lit before taking Dr. Jones. He kept the discussions exciting and relevant to modern culture. He always made himself available to students, and he provides constructive criticism on what you wrote, but grades you BASED ON WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WRITE, not what he wished you wrote.

You barely use the textbook, you can find all the articles/essays online. The books used, Winesburg, OH and Knockemstiff, are absolutely depressing and disgusting. If you expect "normal" literature and can't stand literally all kinds of combinations of inappropriate scenes, this is not the prof for you.

You'll like Prof. Jones...very clear lecturer, can be dull, yes, but funny and keeps the class engaged reasonably well. And despite a large class size, he quickly learned student names which is also pretty impressive. He's a good guy to 321 from.
