I was heading directly towards a failing grade. Paul wisely said my name and told me: 'breathe!' The essays that I wrote prior to meeting with Paul are poorly written, disorganized, and filled with endless run on sentences. Paul's advice reverberated throughout my academic experience. My writing skills improved. Partially, thanks to him.

"I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance" - Meryl Streep. Paul is unlikely to be ever be part of Meryl Streep's circle of friends. Great teacher and great speaker, hopefully one day he will get over himself.

Paul truly is one of a kind. Brilliant, hilarious, can be a bit pompous but always in good fun. Walked into SOCI 300 in the September expecting to hate it, turned out to be the most memorable class to date. Fantastic lecturer, knows his stuff inside-out, bit of a tough grader but totally worth it. Cares about his students and wants you to succeed.

Eloquent, knowledgeable & smart teacher. Never looses his audience. Unfortunately, he seems 2 know those assets about himself a little 2 much. Just like good-looking people can b victims of their own image, Pauls a victim of his assets. No humility whatsoever. His academic accomplishments throne, sceptre, crown 4 him. He'll make sure u know it.

Sahni arbitrarily grades your first paper too low, tossing it, then says he will give you A/A- on your presentations no matter what. An inconsistent grader who employs a patriarchal pedagogy for the purposes of wielding power over his students. Complains about putting women on a syllabus, chooses Gilligan to reinforce his own beliefs about women.

Calls it like it is. He can be harsh with his criticism basically because he's a straight shooter and doesn't think dancing around helps. He has high standards and no tolerance for bull so he'll call you on it. His feedback on papers is hard to read but anyway the best thing is to go see him because he'll take a lot of time to help you.

You have to do the readings to go good-posted on moodle. Tough grader. A little harsh when giving feedback on assignments. There are 2 take home essays & 1 inclass exam (essay style questions). One good thing is he drops your worst grade, making your best grade worth 70% of your grade. So even if you do bad on 1 essay, you can still pass the class!

Incredibly funny (sarcastic and witty) and super knowledgeable. I felt like a took a real university class for the first time in 3 years. I was forced to think and argue and not simply regurgitate. If you want to slide by and not be challenged then don't take this class. If you really want to learn and push yourself, then it's a must.

Very passionate about the topic, lectures are long and you need to take notes because he just talks, although keeps it interesting with his humour. You will work. It is mandatory to read the material. Although not my preferred teaching style, it is possible to pass. Sahni does care about his students' success, just take advantage of his help!

Comment:
There is no doubt that Prof. Sahni is very skilled and knowledgeable, however expecting students to succeed in exams without providing them with the necessary material to do so is just ABSURD. However, he is really good at portraying himself as a "living legend" and a genius and confident person that no one can compete with.

There is difference between going to a class to teach and hoping for your students to learn something and going to a classroom just to boast about your credentials and achievements, and unfortunately Prof. Sahni is only good at one.

Overall cool guy but brutal teacher. While he is funny and keeps you interested, he has unreasonably high expectations of his students and often comes off as an elitist. If you don't go to his office hours don't expect to pass.

Paul is super funny and really knows how to make a boring subject interesting. However, he assigns a ton of reading! Need to read & critically understand everything to pass. Makes the class seem easy but is an extremely hard grader. Unless you have to take this class DONT. If your not an expert at writing paper AVOID! Format- 2 papers, 1 mid & pres

I loved this class. Many students found the assignments difficult, but they help you understand the material. Paul was always available to clarify or go over outlines for assignments and had anywhere from 4-6 office hours a week. If someone looked even a little bit confused, he would stop a lecture to help them understand the material. BEST prof.

There is definitely a confidence with him that people can find either enticing or annoying, but he is amazing at this job and extremely smart. He teaches a class that has potential to be horribly boring, but he makes it interesting. Best of all he will actually try to learn your name and interact with you. Note: He calls on people randomly

Interesting concepts and teacher. Grading is a bit inconsistent; you really have to cram everything you read within 6 pages. Downside: being a decent teacher, a lot of student tries to suckup through lectures- VERY hard to focus.

Goof prof. The material sucks and is really dry but he makes it somewhat interesting. Pretty strict considering his marking, but if you do what he says, scan read texts, you should be fine at least for a 75. I like him overall.
