I absolutely hated this class. Jurtshuk is unhelpful, old and crotchety, and if you don't get a seat within the first three rows you might as well leave, because i guaran-freaking-tee you that you wont be able to hear him. He reads everything from the handbook. Though the tests are curved, if you don't memorize the handbook and practice tests then you'll be scratching your head and saying "huhhhh?" On test day. Overall a painfully boring and frustrating class. Take another professor if you can.

Just want to warn others who decide to take this class: It is absolute drivel. I learned more from online lectures. If you must take this class, take it at community college and you'll be smarter for it. Yes, old tests do help but only if you study them properly. If you're prepared, you'll be doing his tests with lightening speed. Do not overthink!

Old guy so hes hard to understand (sit in the front). The textbook is stupid. Easy class. I went to class sometimes, took a few notes (get the 5 star pages for the tests), read the book, memorized the lists, did the practice tests, got an easy A. The test is pretty much the practice test and some questions are repeated a lot (he's really old).

This professor should retire. His textbook is disorganized and repetitive. His attitude toward students is dismissive at best. He is old (perhaps too old to still be doing this). For the record, I have an A in this class. I've done the work so I'm not complaining because of a bad grade.

completely boring class, teacher is monotone and reads straight out of the textbook. there is absolutely no point in going to class. He gets mad sometimes if you go to his room to ask questions. But if you have old tests the class should be a breeze. He barely changes the tests. Also reading from the book helps a lot, but he doesn't.

This isnt an easy class if you arent willing to study. If you go to class and pay attention to what he says and read the lecture manual (the book) then you should make an A. Also, try to find old tests from ppl because test 2 and the final are mainly old questions and those old tests can be VERY helpful. Overall pretty easy class & funny teacher.

the most useless class ever..learned nothing..basically read bk and get old tests dont worry abt other tests than finals.dats the deciding one...so if u do well on dat u will def. get A..get old tests dats the only sure way to get the good grade..the bk doesn't help too much

he's a nice guy. but he is older now so he can kinda get irritated quickly, but he will answer your questions when you ask them. the key to get an A in his class is to get many old tests as possible and study the manuals. the old tests will help you out A LOT while studying the manuals because you'll understand faster how he works.

For some reason, this class was very difficult for me although I am an A student. I actually went to lecture everyday, took notes, and studied hardcore, but still did poorly as in C's on the exams. If you can avoid this class, then don't take it! There are two exams and a comprehensive final. Good luck to those who take this class!

This professor is so freaking easy! I mean yeah, the man doesnt really explain well, but hey all you gotta do is study the pages assigned for his test in his lecture book. Pay attention and study his "6-star pages".He even has exams in the back of the lecture book, and they reappear on the test. Has 2 tests and 1 final.

Microbiology - Although most people are saying his class is boring, I will have to disagree f in every way. You can miss the class and still pass the test with a B. The lectures are exactly from the book. Literally Jurtshuk reads the book. The test are pretty easy. I recommend you do the practice test, SAME QUESTIONS.

He puts a lot of emphasis on the notes he gives in class. When he mentions a *six star page- pay attention and know the page and how it builds on other concepts. The tests in the back of the book really help. He can be interesting if you really listen for the good stuff!

Oh yeah don't read what others say about the 10 point curve. He only curve 2 points on first exam and 4 points on second for this semester. Utterly useless. Screw up my grades eventhough I made really high grades on the first 2 exams. He only count the final and one of the exam not both!

OMG I hate this guy. I don't know how he does his grading scheme. I had 2 high B's in his first 2 exams. Did farely well on his finals. I didn't get a chance to look at it, but I know I did well. However, he gave me a C+ for the class!! That totally screw my whole gpa up.

I am not a fan of the professor whatsoever! Came into this class very very eager, and was highly disappointed in it. Got into the class around the middle. It is NOT easy. All memorization. If you can do that without learning at the same time. Take him. Not really any choice? Good luck!

This class is super straight forward. You know what you need to study, you study it, you get an A (or high B.) He is old and does drag sometimes, but I personally found lectures interesting unless I was already wiped out..I made an A and I'm not much of a studier, but the topic did interest me

...SO BORING but he is the only prof that teaches Micro here. Just buy the manuals; he reads right out of them so it's not too complicated. Frequently ends class early. Lots of memorization. Lots. A lot of the test material isn't in the manual but he reuses the test questions and lots of previous students have those............

lectures are boring but informative. you dont have to buy the textbooks, just his manuals from the underground. curves tests; 2 tests, 1 final. a lot of memorization, his manuals have old exams for you to look at too. exams are so unorganized! he makes so many minor editing errors and has to tell his students to correct them on the day of the test!
