-Goes on tangents. -has to be correct. overall nice guy. Brutal teacher, Cannot pay attention its so boring. I dread going to philo class. I'd rather cry all day or get hit by a bus just so I don't have to go. And you can never write notes because he talks so fast! he DOESN"T POST!

Challenging but very worthwhile class. Prof Dwyer shows you how to take thinking to a new level. My brain built new circuits every class. Also had fun observing colourful sock and tie combinations.

only slightly more engaging than a soc class i had with a prof who couldn't speak English. the sad thing about that is, Dwyer put me to sleep more. my interest in PHIL-osophy has declined due to this class.

Class was a blast. ppl are too thin-skinned. Dwyer will criticize your ideas if he disagrees, but it's philosophy get used to it. Good prof. Needs office hours though. If you're into Woo, stay away though b/c he'll crush your superstitious dreams :D

He knows his stuff and is very passionate about his opinions. I enjoyed listening to him on many occasions. He did, however, have a tendency to resort to abusive rhetoric when someone disagreed with him. To me, that ruined anything I might have enjoyed in his class. I learned to not say anything when he asked the class for our thoughts.

Honestly the worst teacher I've had. Ever. He rants and raves through class teaching his beliefs and shooting down everyone elses, never writes anything on the board except for one or two words and quickly shoots down people's ideas and thoughts and expects a 10 page paper, ill have to teach myself.

This professor has very unique and very interesting views. You won't walk away agreeing with everything that he says, but you will definitely leave his class with an improved appreciation for the many philosophical arguments he puts forth. Not a perfect professor, but he is knowledgeable, is willing to help, and has many unique and fresh ideas.

His class is not just a class that you can sleep your way through. It involves attention and also involves understanding. Understanding all of the concepts he describes and uses is KEY, but he is willing to explain anything and everything you need him to - if YOU make the effort. I would highly recommend taking his classes.

This guy is completely terrible. All his arguments are according to him extremely valid and insightful, when they are in fact nonsensical and useless. Philosophy has become an even less respectable discipline thanks to him.

What is point of going to this class? All I do is draw on my desk because I can't stand to listen to this arrogant buffoon. This guy is so terrible I actually prefer to go to my physics class than sit and listen to him say why every other philosopher is useless and stupid and why he alone knows whats right and logical. Also I swear he makes words

Awful! Tries to convince us that he is always right. When I go to the lectures, I often find myself wondering what else I could do with my time? Maybe break my leg as an excuse to miss class, or jump of Victoria bridge, or run home cry like a baby because Mr Always-right Dwyer said my opinions on the material are stupid. I recommend all three! haha

Worst prof ever! Fat, loud, and arrogant. Thinks everything he says is right and anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid. Calls students and other philosophers alike dumb for believing things that go against his ideas. Arent first year profs supposed to introduce historical scholars and theories, rather than just argue against them?

He hasn't marked my first essay yet, but I find him a lot better than my last prof, Karl Pfeifer. Compared to him, Dwyer actually TEACHES, even though he's arrogant and writes nothing down. He does make a distinction between his opinion and what other philosophers have said. I just sort of block out his own point of view. Not the worst I've had.

This prof SUCKS! He writes nothing on the board, only random words, no typed notes, power points or anything! This prof is a jerk, he doesn't encourage students to learn, if you ask a question he bluntly and rudely cuts you down. He actually told a person in this class that they were stupid for thinking the way they were! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PROF!

Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. It is one thing to argue opinions, but it is another to go out of your way to bash others. First year philosophy classes should aim to enrich and entice the subject, while allowing students to build opinions, not letting them be subjected to constant insults about their ideas. Horrible.

arrogant, no notes whatsoever, handout or on board. spent over a month covering one reading that was covered better in one day in my prev. phil 100 class. thinks philosophy is for crazy people. will go out of his way to bash any contrasting opinions from his. how is he allowed to teach this?

This class is probably the worst one I have ever taken. He goes off on tangents, and forgets what he was supose to be talking about. He does NOT write anything on the chalk board besides random words and doesn't repeat definitions so that you can write them down. He doesn't post any notes or powerpoints on PAWS. This class with this prof is a joke!

Did any of you naysayers consider the possibility that this guy rejected your opinion on a topic because your opinion is WRONG. Believe it or not folks, truth isn't relative, and it really could be that your take on reality is bs. Possibly the best prof at the U of S.
