Mr. May had the education St. John's students get when he was 10. If there's anything to dislike about the man, it' pure envy. The life of the mind? He done had it it, ten times over. If you think he's a jerk, or have opinions about him, you're a fool just looking for some help. He'll provide it, even if YOU remain a jerk.

Funny, kind, extremely intelligent and wise, and not the least bit arrogant about any of it. Would never intimidate anyone, but loses no authority as a result. Also, if he doesn't know everything, I've seen no evidence.
