Overall she was a pretty good prof and the topic was interesting. I find though you need to stay on her good side to get a good grade and It will be easy so you just got to show up for class and participate and you'll get an A.

Do not believe the down votes on the bad reviews she has gotten. I guarantee you she reads these post and has people down voting real feedback or has multiple accounts to down vote real opinions of her. Trust me avoid this class at all cost. She is a professor trying to stay relevant with a BS course. Bs marking scheme. Hold's personal grudge.

This teacher holds grudges and has a bias in grading too. If you talk or do anything that pisses her of. She will slowly but surely cut you short of a grade. so pretend like you care and listen. Very unprofessional of her to be bias just because some pretend to care about her class.

To sum her up in one word, she's very caring. She tries hard to make classes interesting and you can definitely tell that she cares about her students and makes sure to get to know a little about each one. She gives off a very grandmotherly vibe. Class work isn't too difficult if you go to class. I recommend participiting when you can.

I had Ping Lu for Chinese culture class in 2016 and she sparked my interest in Chinese culture. She was always engaging and made sure you were happy with everything you were doing in class. 10/10 would love to have her again!

She's heavy on group work, and participation. If you listen to her lectures you'll get a easy A. There's assignment's after every chapter, but the material is what you already learned, and she's a very easy marker. I never got anything less than a 8 out of 10 on every assignment.

An absolutely horrible professor. She makes attendance mandatory by making it a part of the mark, yet during the class she can't keep on one topic long enough. Her tests are simple as long as you study the review because that's literally all that the test is. If you're looking for an easy A then take the class, but be warned it's absolutely boring.

Chinese Culture? More like story time with Ping Lu, Sure she is from China, but she just tells stories the whole time, the class work is easy and she treats you like a child (if she remembers your name). She has to point out the stupidest point during her stories, and out of all my international prof her English is the worst. Easy A - Stupid class

REALLY wish I'd listened to warnings. Nationalistic textbook by Chns gov'nment. Test questions were awful. Cite answers word for word from the textbook (ignore her plagiarism warning) or they'll be marked wrong. Only SMU class I've REALLY regretted. Got an A, but it was a total waste of tuition.

Very easy class. She was nice, helpful and did her best to make the class interesting. I guess she learned from what people have previously said, since she occasionally insisted that there's "no such thing as a stupid question." Highly recommended if you like the subject.

i have been in a couple of her classes and she is a wonderful prof. As long as you have interest in what she is teaching than you will most likely recieve a good mark. She is one of my favorite professors I have had the pleasure of knowing and takes personal interest in her students. Love Her!!!

She is a great teacher, very friendly, and very helpful. Surprisingly enough she is actually quite funny at times (sometimes unintentionally). No text book required, just goto class, do the very very straight forward assignments, and study a bit before each test and you can do very well.

rather than explain tonal differences, she got students to try to say them, not knowing what they were saying...embarassing and humiliating. Also does NOT accomodate students who have to miss time for health/family emergencies!
