Comment:
Professor Modarres is not exactly the most friendly person. He can sound condescending and sometimes loses patience easily. However, his lectures are very clear and his handouts reflect what will be on quizzes and exams. I didn't find the tests hard at all.

Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. He would complain about students not asking questions, then would chastise the students who did for not understanding the material. He would often say "look at your notes" instead of actually answering your question. Literally laughed at me when I got a D on his midterm. Awful professor and person.

Yeah, he's really organized, but that's about it. It's better to read the book and avoid interacting with him. Whenever I asked a question, he didn't even try to respond, he just yelled at me. His class is very details focused.

Rude and unhelpful Professor. Never have I met a teacher who made me regret coming to GWU. Unfortunately, I am stuck with him for the next two years as he is the Chairman of the stat department. Avoid him at all costs. If you want to do statistics, go elsewhere, because this man is your advisor and calls all the shots related to everything.

Horrible professor. He acts very rude. The class is SUPPOSED to have a lab, but we don't. He gives the class projects, in order to do these projects you have to know how to use SPSS...which NOBODY knows how to use. He never taught us how to use it. Horrible professor. Will not bother to learn your name. Just don't take this class.

i simply HATE him. he's arrogant and really doesn't care if you get it or not. He actually got angry at my class b/c we asked him TOO MANY questions. he expects everyone to just get it, and he goes SO quickly. 3 tests, quiz once a week and 2 projects. oh and b/w the 3rd test and final, 1 section. so very pointless final on 12/22! the book is $170

he seemed apathetic about teaching at GWU (hes from american) and went EXTREMELY fast. i never took stat and was lost after the fourth week, even though i did all my homework i STILL managed to miss problems on quizzes (which are based off of homework!) he goes off on the different ways of figuring out the same thing and ends up confusing everyone

Hard class, especially if your not a math person. He does help out a lot and doing the homework pays off. With a lot of hard work, a good grade is possible.

Man, worst class ever. This cat has a seriously thick accent, as if statistics was not already difficult to understand. Lot is weighed on the mid terms and final. Man, so glad to be done with his class.

He is a very great teacher, if you know what you are doing. Altough his accent might screw you over, he likes to help his students out. If you think this class is an "easy A" think again! You have to work for you grade, but it is achievable if you know what youa re doing. If you don't get statistics and hate math, DON't TAKE THIS CLASS. Love it tak

I hate Stat, and hated it more after I left. He doesn't care about his students, or their grades, doesn't know anybody's name. Go to class and take good notes b/c that's what matters in quizzes and tests. Don't do all the homework, b/c there will be too much. Moves insanely fast, especially compared to every other section.

His class is not incredibly difficult but he moves VERY quickly and teaches twice the material that other professors in the same subject teach. The quizzes are open note and count for a lot so they help. He did not abide by university grading policy however so instead of a 93 being an A he counts 95. He gives a study guide...know it inside and out!

If you put in the time and the effort, it is NOT hard to get an A. If you understand how to use formulas by doing the homework (which yes, there is a lot of) you won't have any problems because the quizzes, which are worth like a 3rd of your grade are open book and open note. The 2 midterms and final allow a cheat sheet front and back.

People who whine about this class are lazy--keep in mind that most of the statistics you'll be doing can easily be done with a computer. You have to learn the concepts by doing the homework yourself. Grading is VERY reasonable, but be aware that only a 95 (not a 94.999) counts as an A in the class.

I don't really like statistics, and the way he presented it wasn't particularly interesting, but all tests & quizzes were open note.
