Comment:

Professor Dery is a great English professor, he does not lecture heavy and makes the 3-hour class go by pretty quickly with the interesting assignments he gives. As soon as you finish your work, he lets you leave. Do not show up late or disrespect him because he will be very straight forward and call you out. I suggest his 8 am class!!

Comment:

Professor Dery is a very nice guy. He assigns a paper every 2 weeks but the papers are fairly easy and he gives you a "guideline" to show exactly what he's looking for. He revises your paper and gives you the chance to rewrite them if you're not happy with your grade. He is pretty lenient , he just doesn't post grades anywhere.

Comment:

Amazing professor who actually cares about students and how they are doing in class. Very encouraging with work and extremely easy to talk to. He's very understanding and easy going and is always willing to help. I had him for 121 and will be having him again (hopefully) for 122. The essays are very straightforward and so is the in class work.

I took him for both English 121 and 122. He is just the greatest and makes sure to really help you and give you great feedback. As long as you put effort in your papers and works he will acknowledge that. As long as you do your work and as questions youll pass the class with an A

Professor Dery was an amazing professor!! I had him at 8 am on Mondays. In 122 we did 3 papers, 2 of the papers were 2000 word research. The last one was literally a page! Gives in class work but its fairly easy and will help you with your paper and writing skills. Show him your willing to work and give 100% effort!

Professor Dery is probably one of the best teachers on the Brookdale campus! His in-class work is easy. His papers are clear on what you need to write, so you won't be confused. If you get a bad grade on a paper, he'll allow you to rewrite it for a better grade. I wish he taught other class because he is such a great professor and kind man!

One of the best teachers I ever had! I'm a math/science major, and found it surprisely fun to write papers. His point of view is really interesting and he helps improve your writing. Laid back, but you still gotta take him serious though. Don't text, or pack up while he's still talking either. Just do your work! You'll regret not taking him!

Professor Dery was awesome in every sense of the word. Very chill, but you have to take him seriously. The biggest thing for him is his attendance policy - which is mandatory. Trust me on this, I learned the hard way. You lose an entire point from your final grade every time you are late or miss class so make sure you're at every class meeting!

My favorite professor hands down! He only cares about effort and will let you rewrite any essay for a higher grade. NO TESTS,NO TEXTBOOKS,only short lectures and in class assignments. You will ALWAYS get out early! I've also never seen a professor truly care about his students. You will never be confused or embarrassed to ask a question.

Not a morning person, but definitely worth taking his class early in the morning. He doesn't care about tests, quizzes, midterms, or finals. He only gives us class works and a couple of essays to do at home. If you get something wrong with the essay, he gives you a chance to redo it for a bigger grade. Always there to help students with their work and their writing and let's you leave class early when you hand in all your work. If you're coming in to Brookdale for the first fall semester, I highly recommend you take Dery for English 121 and if you're coming back for the first spring semester, I highly recommend you to take him again for English 122. You'll be sorry if you don't. BEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER!!

One of the best professors I have ever taken! I am not a morning person but when I saw how high his ratings were I decided to take his 830 am. it was beyond worth it! he cares for all his students! I would take his class over and over if I could. he lets you work at your own pace and is there for support!

He's quite honestly a good professor and is funny in all of his lectures. He doesn't use canvas like every other professor so Its a challenge finding out what your grade is since he will only tell you during his conferences. He was a good professor but I would NOT take him again since his teaching styles weren't the best and I didn't learn to much.

Personally he was my favorite English professor at Brookdale in that he is not a tough grader on papers and as long as you try and write the paper the best possible way he will give you points. He allows you more than enough time to finish papers and there was a few classwork. Do NOT be late! He hates that and cellphone use. Take him for an easy A

No textbook. Entertaining online classwork and group work, that is relevant to current topics and improves our writing styles. 4 short papers (if you hate writing like me, you'll find they are a breeze). He always gives us a chance to revise our papers, for an A! Guaranteed A if you hand in everything & show up on time, & stay off phones till break

AWESOME teacher. He has really improved me as writer and he does a great job of preparing you to write the paper and does a even better job of making your paper better.
