Very difficult tests if you don't study. Lectures are easy to follow. All you have to do is study and you will get a decent grade. Also, be involved with your team with the group project as much as possible.

Wow, really difficult tests; difficult, time-consuming project over course of semester; however, very likeable professor; truly cares about the students which is refreshing in the EKU Business School

Comment:

You get what you put into the course. It is a little more difficult than most 300 courses but it is not Harvard philosophy. Take good notes, study the text hard and an A is not out of the question. Dr. Powers has a bad rep but is the nicest professor out-of-class on this campus, very helpful. If your an A-B student don't sweat this guy at all.

Really not as bad as people make it out to be. You have to go to class because he takes attendance and grades accordingly. As far as exams, multiple choice are from the book so read it, and essay are from the power points he uses in lecture. Start on the project early and you will be fine. I ended up with a B.

Dr. Powers is very interesting. It took me awhile to figure him out actually, I never really did. He talks a a lot about himself and what he has. During his lectures, he uses PP from older textbooks so it's hard to follow along. He tests are very difficult. You really have to know the material. They are all application questions. Very tricky.

All marketing majors have to take him and it is not a good experience. Make sure you participate, because even though its not stated this is 80% of your grade. Never contridict him or ask other teachers for help when he wont help you, because this enrages him. If you are doing group work, even if you get the best grades in the section out of you

For those of you who have decided to take out your frustrations on Dr. Powers, the only possible conclusion that I can come of this is that you didn't work as hard as what is required. Yes, you have to work hard and read material and take notes. But this isn't high school. You are adults. If you can't take the heat, then find a different major.

Powers is the worst professor ever. This class is so hard. He makes you complete a 120 page paper and a 40 min presentation, and springsit on you last minute. And get on his good side because your grade depends on whether he likes you!! Even is own daughter that goes to EKU refuses to take him!!

Go into the class with an open mind.He expects a lot from his students just as every other teacher should.He truly cares about his students, if you have a question, just ask.Read the chapter and he will tell you what questions will be on the test, just listen.when you get out in the real world it won't be any easier than his class.

This man is an incompetent fool! Unfortunately he is tenured and cannot be removed from his teaching position. Along with having almost zero experience in marketing he often contradicts himself. Have the guts to correct him and stand up to him. Because of his lack of knowledge as well as extreme laziness I would recommend reading the book for tests

Dr. Powers is NOT someone who needs to be teaching. He is suppose to be teaching marketing, but he can NOT 'sell' marketing to the students in a way they will understand. He is all into himself and how successful he was in business. If he is so good at MKT, then why is he teaching at EKU? Stay away from Richard, very bad EKU MKT professor.

Very hard. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. His lectures consist of how "great" a salesperson he was and nothing about what is in the book. He WILL relate everything to himself. I barely made a C in the class and i worked extrememly hard on everything.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS TEACHER. HE IS THE WORST EVER. 3 STUDENTS IN MY CLASS HAD NEVER GOT ANYTHING BELOW A B IN THEIR LIFE AND ALL 3 HAD 62% FOR HIS CLASS. HE IS UNBELIEVABLE. HE IS A FAILED ENTREPRENEUR AND TAKES IT OUT ON EVERYONE. HALF MY CLASS IS RETAKING MKT WITH ANOTHER TEACHER. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM. I WOULD NOT WISH HIM ON MYWORST ENEMY
