Robert is an awesome person. He goes out of the way to help you in and out of the classroom. If he can help he will. We ended up staying in touch even after i graduated and he has been helping me with my graduate work (looking over papers to help me make them the best possible ones)

Robert is a ton of fun in class and he really wants to see everyone to succeed. Your bound to have a good time if you enjoy dad jokes! He rarely lectures but when he does it gets confusing and boring so be prepared to grasp the concepts ahead of time or with your group. All work is group based so make sure you have good partners!

Comment:

Nice guy who gives good grades on homeworks and quizzes. Curves tests and lets you have notecards, but most people don't get above Bs on tests anyways. Class is extremely dull and many people fall asleep or stop showing up. Powerpoints are online, but labs are hard and make little sense for non-science people. Don't take just to fulfill a lab!

His lectures are very boring, he basically talks to himself in a dark sleep-inducing room, the labs are based on really long and boring packets (not interactive!), the tests are VERY HARD, and we'll never use the textbooks. As a person he's a great guy, but I don't recommend his astronomy course to anyone!

BORING,talk whatever he want,students are sleeping.HARD TESTS.He never use the textbook(even it was expensive) his course is not helpful at all, do not take it if you are not a science person. Be honest, if give me one more chance I will never take this class, it just impede my grades.

Comment:

Boyle's Intro to Astronomy was the worst class I took at Dickinson. I was very interested in Astronomy and needed a lab so I took the class. Big mistake. His lectures were him basically talking to himself, and so were the labs. Don't take this class if you are interested in astronomy, and if you need a lab, look somewhere else.

Pretty easy for a first year seminar, especially compared to some others. Papers are easy to do well on if you are decent at writing. He will sometimes give super easy pop quizes if a lot of people don't show up to class. He's mildly interesting and can go off on tangents pretty often.

I like physics and I like astronomy but I hated this class. I got an A but I didn't learn anything all semester. He's a very nice, smart, funny guy. But he doesn't care to engage his students, or even learn their names. Students were sleeping every hour. Maybe his higher level courses are different. Take it for an easy A and nothing else.

Professor Boyle is GREAT!!! He genuinely cares about each student individually. He will consult the class on matters such as tests, his quizes consist of you writing your name and the date, and he's so adorable and funny!!! You'll adore him!!!

Horrific. Those who take his courses don't realize how little they learn. grades so easily that students like him, despite the fact that they're completely unprepared for any sort of theoretical work. Knows the material, but doesn't seem to think teaching it is as important as having the students love him.

He's great - very funny, and very forgiving when it comes to assignments and attendance. Quizzes and homework are mainly for attendance purposes. A lot of people think the class is boring, but I've loved Astronomy so far.

I certainly didn't deserve the B+ but Boyle is so easy going I was able to turn in about half of my homework the day of the exam and he didn't take off for it. Most of his grading is based on your effort, which is great for those tough topics in physics.

Comment:

Robert is a wonderful, sweet, caring person who will help you as much as he can even if it isn't academic related. His enthusiasm is very catchy and he tends to be very flexible. Robert is also easily accessable and hates to be called Prof. Boyle.
