Comment:
Cryptic. The syllabus was poorly written with run-on sentences and improper grammar. The TA was just as confused as we were and no one knew what the assignments were asking.

Comment:
He prefaced the course by saying that it's more laid back than other EA courses (true). He's tough to follow since he goes on tangents and knows so much. Class discussions require reading/skimming of large documents and the discussions are rather useless since people say the same things but himself/TAs have elaborate viewpoints.

Although the material may be dry in the beginning, the course was really eye opening. Bob likes to talk a lot, but he always tosses in witty comments to make sure you're paying attention in lecture. His slides are not overly helpful so it's wise to go to class (if you can stay awake). He also picks really awesome TAs who really improve the course

Comment:
Very unorganized professor, no marks have been posted for the entire duration of the semester. Lectures are taught in a very inefficient manner, where all groups repeat what others said, and you do not end up learning anything. Feel embarrassed that I paid money to take this course, as I did not learn anything valuable.

You can tell that Bob really enjoys talking about this. I do agree that his tangents make it difficult to stay awake in class but he is a brilliant man and makes great arguments. This whole class makes you think about human history, evolution, and progress in a whole new way. I think it's an important class for modern environmentalists.

Compassionate brilliant man. Academically demanding, tough marker, possibly a subjective marker as well. My favourite ERS prof I've had, he's the type that can inspire. KUDOS!

Boring lectures, far too subjective in grading, thinks he is the ruler of the universe. Worst prof I've ever had.
