Best professor I ever had (25 some years ago). I can still remember him reading Beowulf in original Germanic language and being amazed. Only thing I regret about him is he advised me to stay in accounting instead of majoring in Literatue, because accounting would put "food on the table".

I took him for English and Ancient Civ, he was really easy. Requires a research paper, grades pretty easily. His tests aren't the easiest, but I received an A both times.

This guy knows his stuff. For most people he was a little dry but if your interested in his subject you will love it. Tests were very easy. Just show up and listen and you will do well. Warning there is a paper.

He is very intelligent and really helpful. He has no problem explaining the material and going over everything. Just take good notes and you will pass the tests, which are mostly history, another thing he is very good at. The only other assignment is the research paper which isnt too bad.

If you do not like history you won't like him. Even though it is an english class he tells it like a story. papers and quizes are super easy. he lectures off the board and his head so you must go to class and take your own notes. He known anything you ask. Very interesting individual.

Obviously, those students in lower level non-major English classes aren't going to appreciate a teacher who is a genius in his field. His Shakespeare Seminar is top-rated. He is the best of the best and one of the most learned teachers out there. I wish I had the chance to take more classes with him. Too bad the younguns are so unappreciative!

I took him for Honors 103. He is kinda mono tone but very interesting to me. He is very learned but is kind of too prideful about it. His first test was a written test and the others were all multiple choice. And you had all quarter to do a paper. Take him, I got an A+ and didnt read a single story. Just pay attention in class!

be prepared to know every single character for every play. he requires that you know very detailed descriptions of even some of the minor characters. i didnt read the plays, and i just studied my notes and the characters off spark notes and i got an A. write down everything he says.

he is an old school lecturer, so if you're not into that, you might want to take someone else. he is very knowledgeable about the subject and he spends a lot of time on the history of the time period, which can get in the way of teaching the literature, but don't be fooled. you must read to make a decent grade. read and take notes. tests are easy.

I don't know who these people are rating. He talks on and on about very obscure history facts that are hard to keep up with and not always on the test. His test are all different. The first was about the stories context and the second mostly about the random history facts that he rambled about during the classes.

A good teacher, though sometimes hard to understand. It's obvious he loves his subject. He even brought his wife in to help him teach sometimes. He thinks that history is just the funniest thing in the world, and it's easy to get him off on a tangent, but he's a cool guy. I enjoyed his class, even though I hate history.

I had him in the morning for an honors class on ancient lit. No clue what the course number was. He makes you very sleepy in the mornings. He is a good teacher but seems to lack much vocal variance.

I am currently in Doc's British Lit class and am addicted! I already enjoyed the Lit to begin with, but how he teaches it is awesome! He really tries to hook you on the material. I also love how he gives a background on the history and events of the time period before going into the story. It really helps you understand every detail. Take him!!!!!!

I had previously taken him for 201 and absolutely loved his teaching style, so I was very prepared for his 415 class. Basically, for any class you take of his, just do the reading and take good notes on the reading material. He teaches the reading and a lot of the history, but, odds are, he won't test you on history. Reading is the key!
