Ron Israel is a great professor. Pay attention to his lectures and read the textbook and you will be set. 13 online quizzes, 4 exams (study for them) and one final.

This class is easy if you know how to study for it. He puts all lecture slides on blackboard. Buy the book, read his lecture slides along with the book. Highlight anything on the lecture slides on the book so things pop out more. Know all the pictures on the study guide. Not just the names but the facts behind them! Study the quizzes for exams.

nice guy, but he went too slow in the beginning of the semester so we had to do 3 tests out of 5 in the last 4 weeks of school. he did realize it and bent the rules to let us use a flashcard. I don't blame him for my poor grades because it's still very doable, considering ALL 13 quizzes are take home, and the final is all quiz questions

Professor Israel is a good professor. There is 4 tests plus a cumulative final. You will do good as long as you show up to class and read the book. But his time management is very poor, we only had 2 tests all the way until the last 4 weeks of the class but in the last 4 weeks we had 3 tests and the lecture were super heavy on the last few weeks.

Ron is a great guy and has energy but for a 3 unit class you have to read the an absurd amount of the textbook and remember every thing, his exams are multiple choice but all the answers are so similar its hard to get a good grade he does offer optional assignment to boost your grade which is nice but his lectures almost mean nothing for his class

nice man, always in good mood, very pleasant atmosphere in class. however, he's only a decent lecturer. In order to do well on tests you NEED to read every chapter. One test I just read off powerpoints to study, only got an 82 (luckily i did xtra credit). you definitely don't need to worry about the final because it contains questions from quizzes.

Professor Israel is easily one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. He makes the lectures intriguing & he is very funny. As long as you show up to class & go over the slides you should be able to get a good grade & pass the tests and quizzes I got the book but rarely used it bc he goes over everything you need to know in class and on the slides

While I find Humanities super boring, I can say I enjoyed his lectures and found it less boring than usual. The class isn't really mandatory because he rarely drops people but its important to go if you want to do well on the test.

The dude is great. I had opportunities to make up homework and even a test because I couldn't make it to class more than once. He actually tries to make lecture enjoyable and succeeds in doing so. Super friendly guy from day 1, would totally take him again.

Israel is a nice guy, but if for a 3 unit class it requires a lot of reading. Good news is his quizzes are mainly take-home, bad news most people get a C or lower on his tests. Want to get an A? Read each chapter at least 2 times and memorize the pictures

i took this class in hope of it being at least informative and interactive, and boy was i wrong. he drills the class on powerpoints the ENTIRE lecture and tells you to read the textbook. the only time you get to apply the material is during the quizzes and exams, which there are a lot of. not a fan of his teaching method, material doesn't stick.

The short stories he picked out were good reads. The schedule of what we read and when was laid out in the syllabus so, missing a day of class doesn't mean you get left behind. Likes to get the class involved in class discussion.

Honestly one of the nicest professors I've had. It's very easy to get an A in his class as long as you put in effort in your papers. His lectures tend to go off topic but he always comes to class with a smile and gives clear direction.

Although Humanities is an interesting course this class requires a lot of studying for a 101. If this course does not apply to your major and you are just taking it for transfer credits, take an easier class. Tests are very detailed and you need to study hard to get an A/B. This class prevented me from getting straight A's this semester.

Really nice and easygoing. You only get to read 2 books in the entire semester, but make sure to read them though. If possible, take his honors class, it is quite easy. His lecture are kind of long and boring, but overall he is great professor.

If you like a challenge and have a professor that is enthusiastic, then take Ron. He makes you work hard for an A or B grade, and its worth it. The lectures he gives are fun and entertaining. Be prepared to read before class because he gives pop quizzes at the end of each chapter. By the way, there's no extra credit and just be aware!
