Nitzberg is the man! He's funny, and explains concepts really well. He does expect a lot in keyboard exercises and gives a lot of theory HW from the textbook, but rumor has it that if you visit him in his office, he's around to help (and may give out free chocolate, too!). P.S: if you don't like being made fun of, don't take him!

The class is very difficult for an elective. Even though its online, I really dont recommend taking it. Its a lot of work and content is not easy to learn at all. Very difficult final and midterm and the assessments are difficult too.

AVOID HIM!!! The most difficult elective! If you grades below B you'll fall this course. Even you done almost hw and past midterm exam or do well in Final, he will still fall you. there's no C and D grade in this course.

Hilarious and quirky, also is a bit condescending. Fun to be in class although he expects a lot for first year music students. He makes an easy course somewhat rigorous but is willing to help. Be prepared to practice, a mini quiz nearly every class.

Nitzberg is the man! I wish I could have him for every theory class. Makes you work for it and is always around to explain what you need help with. He has a good heart and wants the best for his students. Keep up the amazing work!

Took this class on-line for a Winter session. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and listening. It was way too much work for such a short period of time. If you have no other option than to take his class, make sure you have plenty of time to devote to the work. Taking with other classes is not recommended.

Comment:

Professor Nitzberg is a lapis lazuli of a professor, gem is an understatement. He knows the ins and out of music, and is extremely tough, but will leave you enlightened and prepared to face the depths of Mozart and Bach. He is a fantastic guy, hilarious, and will make your life hard if you don't study or practice keyboard. 10/10, 11/10 with rice.

Great at explaining. Beware midterms and finals arent necessarily similar to whats done in class, might be unexpected. You need to do work, final errors kill your grade, even if the rest of the answer is right.

Cool guy. Doesn't hesitate to help, gives chocolate if you come during office hours. Tough with learning in a set amount of time, but very understandable and knows what he's talking about. Don't make "fatal errors" on your work and you need to practice keyboard and do hw or you won't pass. I highly doubt he'll fail you if he knows you worked hard

I took this professor for a summer session online course. Being that it's online, I felt it would be easier for me (since I'm working full-time) however; its not. A lot of work was given within those 4 weeks and you must know each and every bit of it for the midterm and final exam. I've never worked so hard in 4 weeks.

STAY AWAY!! Very LONG lectures. Absolutely no reviews for midterm or final exam. Must purchase a textbook which costs $150 because of the scratch off key code but Professor does not know the correct information to use it. You end up downloading music from youtube. Book can not be returned if purchased as a loose leaf copy.

Professor Nitzberg is possibly the best professor I have ever had. This class really changed my life because of how well he taught and how he presents the material. It's a really hard course. I probably never studied so much in my entire life, but it was completely worth it. If you work hard and come ON TIME then you'll do fine.

The best Professor I've ever had. The only one that actually taught me to challenge what I'm being taught, instead of accepting a Professor's opinion as law. He WILL make you work for the grade, and it won't be an easy class. But you will learn so much.

Tests are tricky and there was no revision before tests. Materials discussed in class will be tested. Attendance is strictly required. Pay attention to what he said. The question is we can't absorb 100% of what he said. Say 80%, but you might be able to memorize 64% of what had been discussed in weeks. However, the test will be everything. Not fair

I highly recommend this professor. He is very intelligent and will more than prepare you to go on in the program (assuming you DO the work). Just show up to class, do the homework, and study; its that simple. Class clowns be warned, he will not put up with it. Its a great class, he is an excellent teacher, and he will make you a better musician.
